At Great Missenden we have introduced a whole school PSHE scheme called Jigsaw. Jigsaw combines PSHE, emotional literacy, mindfulness, social skills and spiritual development.Jigsaw is designed as a whole school approach, with all year groups working on the same theme (Puzzle) at the same time. The aims of PSHE are best achieved in an environment in which pupils feel safe and where their opinions are valued. In this subject, above all, the child must be central to the process. They must be allowed to be honest, to make mistakes without being reprimanded and to learn from their mistakes. By following the Jigsaw program we can ensure aspiralling/progressive scheme which is enjoyable and valuablefor all children. Year 4 : ‘’We have learnt about bullying and friendships issues and how to solve them to make our school a better place.’’ Year 5 : ‘PSHE has helped us make goals for the year ahead and given us ideas about how we can help each other by learning about our emotions.’’ At Great Missenden our main aim is to provide an effective, age-appropriate PSHE and RSHE education that meets the needs ofallour pupils within an inclusive and supportive learning environment. We are completely committed to giving your children the skills, knowledge and values necessary, so they can be successful to live and learn safely in the modern world.

Year 6 : "We develop our relationships with our friends helping us to find things in common with them as well as knowing it’s good to be different.’’‘’ Its good to be able to talk about our emotions.’’ Mind– To provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. We campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. RSHE at Great Missenden, will be taught using the PSHE Jigsaw Scheme that enables pupils to build on their prior learning by revisiting some themes to further develop knowledge, values and skills in an age appropriate way.Some of these themes are repeated as children move through the school to enable a deeper exploration of the related issues (a spiral curriculum). Teaching Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE)is an essential part of your child’s curriculum as they move through school.

The Jigsawprogramme helps children to develop an understanding of their own and others emotions, social skills and awareness, thoughtfulness and spiritual development in a cohesive, comprehensive and creative way.
