Description

CystoPro contains an active ingredient derived from cranberries. This active ingredient is a class of antioxidants called Proanthocyanidins (PACs). CystoPro also contains probiotics, prebiotics and N-acetyl D-glucosamine. Proanthocyanidins (PACS) which are naturally occurring powerful antioxidants extracted from the North American cranberry. Type A PACs have an anti-adhesion affect, this means they help to reduce the ability of certain bacteria to attach to the bladder lining. Urethral sphincter medications. Medication to help hormonally ‘tighten’ the muscles inside the dog’s urethra that helps to control the exit of urine. This method is suitable for dogs who are experiencing urinary incontinence and have had other causes ruled out first. Feeding any prescription diets as advised by your veterinary surgeon to help prevent further bouts of stones/crystals. Competition for nutrients– within the gut beneficial and pathogenic micro-organisms will be utilising the same types of nutrients. This results in a general competition between bacteria for these nutrients. When a probiotic is administered there is an overall reduction in nutrients available for pathogenic bacteria and consequently this minimises the levels of pathogenic micro-organisms.

We have had the biggest break of UTI since being on these caps...I hope these will put an end to UTI.

Patient Stories

Surgery. For removal of large urinary stones or those which don’t respond well to dietary treatment, cystotomy surgery may be required. Often animals will recover within 1-2 weeks. Some blood may be seen in the urine for the first week following surgery. The stones will be sent away for analysis so a longer-term plan can be made for your dog’s treatment. Created from purified yeast cell walls, Mannan-oligosaccharide (MOS)ce binds to receptors on bacterial fimbriae, which prevents attachment to epithelial cells. MOS is commonly used as a prebiotic to support intestinal microflora. Lactic acid production– probiotics produce lactic acid which acts to reduce the gut pH, inhibiting the growth of pathogenic bacteria, which prefer a more alkaline environment. Probiotics - (Enterococcus faecium) reduces pathogenic bacteria within the gastrointestinal tract thereby lessening the risk of ascending urinary tract infections of faecal origin. Probiotic - The EU-registered strain Enterococcus faecium (NCIMB 10415) E1707 acts to reduce pathogenic bacteria within the gastrointestinal tract thereby reducing the risk of ascending UTIs of faecal origin

Probiotic:The EU-registered strain Enterococcus faecium (DSM 10663/ NCIMB 10415) 4b1707acts to reduce pathogenic bacteria within the gastrointestinal tract and the faeces thereby limiting bacterial colonisation of the perineum. Bladder support. Medications such as Cystopro, which contains antioxidants to prevent bacteria adhering to the bladder lining, probiotics and prebiotics to support good bacteria within the gut and precursors of the GAG layer of the bladder to line and protect the sensitive bladder cells. N-acetyl D-glucosamine, Mannan-oligosaccharide, Gelatin Capsule, Cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon), Magnesium stearate Please note that parcels weighing over 2kg may be sent via courier due to Royal Mail weight restrictions. CystoPro contains Proanthocyanidinsnc, a naturally occurring powerful antioxidant extracted from the North American cranberry. Type A PACs have an anti-adhesion effect, which means they help re-attach to the bladder lining.N-acetyl D-glucosamine - reinforces the structure of the Glycosaminoglycan (GAG) layer that lines and protects the sensitive bladder urothelium. A strong, resilient GAG layer prevents bacteria from adhering to the urothelial cells. The EU-registered strain Enterococcus faecium (DSM 10663/ NCIMB 10415) 4b1707acts to reduce pathogenic bacteria within the gastrointestinal tract and the faeces thereby limiting bacterial colonisation of the perineum.

The EU-registered strain Enterococcus faecium (DSM 10663/ NCIMB 10415) 4b1707 acts to reduce pathogenic bacteria within the gastrointestinal tract and the faeces thereby limiting bacterial colonisation of the perineum. N-acetyl D-glucosamine is a precursor to Chondroitin sulphate and Keratin sulphate which make up the Glycosaminoglycan (GAG) layer that lines and protects the sensitive bladder urothelium. A strong, resilient GAG layer prevents bacteria from adhering to the urothelial cells. Enterococcus faecium PXN 33 acts to reduce pathogenic bacteria within the gastrointestinal tract and the faeces thereby limiting bacterial colonisation of the perineum.

Control of any underlying disease. This may be long term medication for conditions such as Cushing’s disease and diabetes to reduce the likelihood of recurrence. Prostate disease may be controlled by chemical or surgical castration. Bladder tumours can be medicated to slow their rate of growth. You can prevent a dog UTI once the cause of a dog’s urinary infection is known, and your veterinary surgeon can make a long term plan to prevent cystitis from returning. There are also some more simple steps you can follow and build into your dogs daily routine. These include: Proanthocyanidins (Type A PACs) - a naturally occurring powerful antioxidant extracted from the North American cranberry. Type A PACs reduce the ability of certain bacteria attaching to the bladder lining. Dogs are examined in a free consultation at Animal Trust where the vet will carry out a physical examination to detect a fever, painful or enlarged bladder or kidneys. Following this, urinalysis is carried out by testing a fresh urine sample for acidity, blood, infection, sugar, concentration and crystals. A urine culture test may also be carried out if bacteria are found in the sample or when an animal experiences recurrent/on-going cystitis.
