Reading this thread, I just thought, a MC20 on my 40-150/2.8 is a cheaper option to the 100-400, with slightly less reach. Levels of Chromatic aberrations are very low for a telephoto optic such as this. A their worst fringing approaches 0.75 pixels widths towards the edges at 40mm and maximum aperture. This is still a very low level, which should pose few issues, even in large prints or harsh crops from the edges of the frame. This was however a brief one-day test. Since then I’ve had a chance to shoot with the 40-150mm for a solid month (this is Gordon speaking!). During this time, Olympus released firmware version 2.2 for the OMD EM1 which, amongst other things, promised greater focusing accuracy with the 40-150mm lens. In case you missed it, the Olympus 40-150mm R measures just 63.5 x 83mm – which shorter than a soda can –and weighs a mere 190g –which is just over half the weight of a can of soda.

So it mainly comes to only a technical argumentary and choice making, that makes it personal justification to boost the ego "I have the better one" and "I made the good choice" than for actual use and results making.

Yes, I appreciate that but I usually expose to protect highlights where possible. I must have forgot with that swan image.

The lens gives excellent results in terms of sharpness, bokeh and versatility. It is certainly the biggest lens for MFT but don’t be fooled by its appearance.
