Description

If all the obstacles of the Duat could be negotiated, the deceased would be judged in the " Weighing of the Heart" ritual, depicted in Spell 125. The deceased was led by the god Anubis into the presence of Osiris. There, the dead person swore that he had not committed any sin from a list of 42 sins, [45] reciting a text known as the "Negative Confession". Then the dead person's heart was weighed on a pair of scales, against the goddess Maat, who embodied truth and justice. Maat was often represented by an ostrich feather, the hieroglyphic sign for her name. [46] At this point, there was a risk that the deceased's heart would bear witness, owning up to sins committed in life; Spell 30B guarded against this eventuality. If the scales balanced, this meant the deceased had led a good life. Anubis would take them to Osiris and they would find their place in the afterlife, becoming maa-kheru, meaning "vindicated" or "true of voice". [47] If the heart was out of balance with Maat, then another fearsome beast called Ammit, the Devourer, stood ready to eat it and put the dead person's afterlife to an early and rather unpleasant end. [48] This accessible book provides insight into recent exponential advances in artificial intelligence, tissue regeneration, stem cell treatment, organ printing, cryopreservation, and genetic therapies that, for the first time in human history, offer a realistic chance to solve the problem of the aging of the human body. In this book, Cordeiro and Wood not only present all the major developments, initiatives, and ideas for eternal life, they also show why there are a number of good arguments for seeing death for what it is: the last undefeated disease. Coogan, Michael D. (2013). A Reader of Ancient Near Eastern Texts: Sources for the Study of the Old Testament,"Negative Confessions". New York: Oxford University Press. pp.149–150. When we have to go on a long journey, we always prepare ourselves well. The journey after death is a pretty long one, especially if we compare it with our life span. Therefore preparing to die well is vital. So, ideally, we should know how to live blissfully and then leave the body in the best possible manner - without fear.

Being brought up in a significantly orthodox Hindu Family and nurtured under the umbrella of Science and Technology, I always had so many confusion wrt why we do what we do at our homes. The spells in the Book of the Dead depict Egyptian beliefs about the nature of death and the afterlife. The Book of the Dead is a vital source of information about Egyptian beliefs in this area. We get so attached to the body and talk about it as of we came with it. We did not. We gathered it starting from mothers womb and naturally, we will lose it as well. This may be my body but this is not me. I am more than the body. There are many other dimensions that our soul needs to experience other than this body. Death is always a fascinating phenomenon to me since childhood, I have witnessed many people leaving their bodies throughout life. I always wondered why they die, what happened after they die and where do they go. Whenever a member of the community dies in the village, family members gather around to send them off with a grand ceremony. Rituals followed after their deaths outbreak a curiosity bombarded with many questions in me. Questioned my uncle and grandma about rituals, they had an answer to few but not for all. So those answered questions buried deep in me looking for an explanation. Sadhguru in this book has put enormous effort to describe the beauty of death and the ceremonies behind it in the Indian culture. Note: beginning with the 1997 printing, subsequent editions include a new “ Foreword” by Sam Keen [27] See also [ edit ]AD – Napoleon's invasion of Egypt encourages European interests in ancient Egypt; 1799, Vivant Denon was handed a copy of the Book of the Dead

In the fall of 2017, Sadhguru initiated Rally For Rivers, a nationwide campaign aiming to implement sustainable and long-term policy changes to revitalize India's severely depleted rivers, which found great support among India's people and leadership. With over 162 Million individuals pledging their support, Rally for Rivers is the largest ecological movement in the world to date. In the fall of 2019, Sadhguru launched Cauvery Calling, a uniquely modelled project that focuses on enhancing farmer wealth while simultaneously impacting river flow and riverine ecosystems. It will enable farmers in the Cauvery basin spanning Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, to plant 2.42 billion trees. You will find many ideas in the book which will make you reflect inside and think in a different perspective. For example: Committing suicide is irrational because you don’t have an intellect capable of grasping what the hell is happening within them.”
