(Here’s why we loved it.) Set in London, it’s the story of a teenage girl’s disappearance and her estranged father’s search for her. The second series arrived in April 2020 and was just as strong as the first.Based on Brooke Magnanti’s bestselling book and blog, Belle de Jour: Diary of a London Call Girl, this series very much does what it says on the tin. Billie Piper takes on one of her most memorable roles as high-end London escort Hannah, who lives a double life, increasingly struggling to hide her profession from her family and friends. Covering four series, it’s fascinating, often funny, and offers a refreshingly different take on contemporary sex work not often seen elsewhere. Let’s have an affair. But we can’t fall in love.” Johnny Flynn and talent-to-watch Roisin Gallagher ( The Dry) star in an entertainingly rude romcom, set in Belfast, created by acclaimed playwright David Ireland ( Cyprus Avenue) and from the producers of Doctor Foster and The English. He’s a posh political TV presenter with a celebrity girlfriend. She’s a potty-mouthed supermarket worker with no interest in current affairs. Or indeed anything much. When this unlikely pair are thrown together in surprising circumstances, sparks fly. Heinkel five seat, twin prop engined monoplane medium bomber from 1936, also built by CASA as the 2.111 Dassault built, two seat, twin jet engined, strategic nuclear strike bomber, later used for reconnaissance, from 1960 Simon has long been a fan of soap operas, and especially loves OVER-THE-TOP plots involving evil twins, hair-pulling catfights and natural disasters.

Supporting characters include Carolyn Martens (Fiona Shaw, who also won a BAFTA for the role), head of the Russian Section at MI6 who sends Eve off on various secret missions. Plus, Konstantin Vasilev (Kim Bodnia), who is Villanelle’s handler and a sort of father figure.Cate Blanchett has been nominated for an Emmy Award for her role as real-life activist Phyllis Schlafly in this drama series about the rise of the women’s liberation movement during the 1970s. Elizabeth Olsen excels in HBO’s classy true-crime miniseries as 80s suburban Texas housewife Candy Montgomery. After a fling with a married member of her Methodist church group (the reliably terrific Jesse Plemons), she’s put on trial for killing his wife with an axe. The presence of writer David E Kelley ( Big Little Lies, The Undoing) guarantees another addictive, talking-point potboiler. But the earlier episodes of Killing Eve are definitely still a wild watch. Phoebe Waller-Bridge of Fleabag fame was the head writer and executive producer for season 1. Talk about comfort viewing. BritBox recently added the complete Jonathan Creek to its listings, which means 32 heightened mysteries (1997-2014) for the windmill-dwelling, duffle coat-wearing detective to solve. Delightful. This six-part Aussie psychological thriller is based on the novel of the same name by Michael Robotham. Season 3 takes place four years on from Season 2. As the AIDS epidemic continues, Blanca marshals forces within the LGBT community to demand better support for those living with AIDS, all while juggling motherhood and working as a nurse in an AIDS hospital ward. Time season 2 sees the action shift to a women's jail as we join inmates Kelsey (Bella Ramsey), Orla ( Jodie Whittaker) and Abi (Tamara Lawrance) who arrive at Carlingford Prison on the same day.

There’s even more to watch.

Photograph: BBC/Mammoth Screen Six years after the 2017 Grenfell Tower fire that claimed 72 lives, the BBC has confirmed their plans to air a three-part factual drama drawing on extensive research, which will tell the story of the events leading up to, during and after the devastating tragedy. It’s being written and directed by BAFTA-winning Peter Kosminsky ( Wolf Hall) and will cover the story from multiple perspectives, including victims, survivors, the firefighters on duty that night and the wider community. Casting and filming details are yet to be announced. Hot Flush Before there was Frank Underwood, there was Francis Urquhart (Ian Richardson) in the original UK political drama on which the Kevin Spacey-starring US Netflix hit was based. This is where the Machiavellian scheming and to-camera asides all began. Read more about th e BBC classic here.
