Despite its compact size, this dehumidifier is also heavy. And noisy. We also didn’t find it that much help with drying clothes, although it did a good job of managing general damp and reducing condensation and mould on windows and walls.

The Pro Breeze 20L Premium is powerful, so higher energy usage isn't unexpected, but compared to the MeacoDry Arete One 20L Dehumidifier which averages energy usage of 216W that is still fairly high. It blows out warm air, and if we shut the door where the washing is, it gets quite toasty. It turns itself off if the water container gets full. We don't have huge damp problems – it's an older property though so it’s a little damp, but feels better since we started using the EcoAir.” (Vetted by Mumsnet user Fourmagpies) The sleek and modern unit with navy blue exterior stands out from the crowd in all the right ways, and whilst it doesn't have built-in wheels like most dehumidifiers of this size, the integrated carry handle and mid-weight build make it relatively easy to transport from room to room. If you want a more compact build, then there is also a 12L and 14L model available.

If your home is filled with moisture, condensation or even mould, a dehumidifier provides a range of benefits. These include: If you’re looking for a dehumidifier that can clear moisture in a larger space or deal with significant damp levels within the home, then you need a dehumidifier with a high extraction rate. If you’re looking for a small dehumidifier, then the Russell Hobbs RHDH1061G Portable Dehumidifier is about as compact as it gets, measuring just H22 x W14 x D14cm and weighing in at 0.9kg.

1. Best overall: Meaco Arete One 12L Dehumidifier

Special Laundry Mode: Reduce the drying time of damp laundry indoors by absorbing moisture in the air from wet clothes. Using the latest technology, it's capable of extracting up to 600% more water than similar-sized dehumidifiers.
