It is delightfully illustrated by the author. At the end there is a photo of the real life Panda, Cat, and Teddy. If you like inspirational messages, see hope in the eyes of a toy, and dream of a better world, then you're an idiot. Buy this fantastic book and BE MORE PANDA.' Honestly tho, I've been a fan of Paul Magrs for years. His cynical, gin-sodden, stuffed-toy Panda character is one of my favourite creations and truly he shines in this format.Magrs’ glee in spoofing The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse is evident throughout the The Panda, The Cat and The Dreadful Teddy. Magrs’ artwork is an utter delight. It is simple but perfect, striking just the right balance between being childlike and more sophisticated than it seems at first glance. Likewise, the text is never a cruel spoof, but it is extremely funny. At almost every turn, Panda smashes Teddy’s optimistic outlook with a witty retort or more often than not a raft of expletives that never fail to bring a smile. This is one very sweary Panda!” This is a book of nice illustrations and some words from which you will likely gain some sort of inspiration. Like: 'Just because you're struggling, it doesn't mean you're failing... But it might do. 'Nothing beats kindness,' said the cat. Cute and funny in places but also quite confusing sometimes. I can't tell if there is supposed to be a thread to follow and it is difficult to read some of the writing.

Even as a book on its own, I didn't like it that much. It tries too hard to be funny, self-deprecating and relatable through the main character 'Panda', who is simply an arsehole and mean to Teddy for no reason. Yes, I love gin and reading too but 🤷 I love it. Genuinely… Really appeals to my warped sense of humour.’– Gary Andrews, author of Finding JoyThis is my first book by Paul Magrs for some time and I was glad to reacquaint myself with his razor sharp wit.

The gentle and reassuring traditions of classic children’s books lovingly observed, and then gleefully profaned. Are you sitting comfortably? Well, that was probably your first mistake.’

It’s lovely to see those moments between them where they show they’re really good friends underneath it all. That rings so true because we all have friends that we spar with or take the piss out of, but underneath there’s a deep bond. It’s those moments that show Magrs’ genius. It’s not just a simple spoof; this is a world we all know and deep down sometimes we’re all a bit like the Panda, aren’t we? The gentle and reassuring traditions of classic children's books lovingly observed, and then gleefully profaned. Are you sitting comfortably? Well, that was probably your first mistake.' This is a book of nice illustrations and some words from which you will likely gain some sort of inspiration. Like: Hilarious book bought for a friend who loves pandas. A little disappointed that the book has scuffed corners on the spine and a dirty mark on the front of the book, especially as it's a gift

As a fan of the charming book that Magrs that is cheekily parodying, I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this, but the fabulous illustration on the cover immediately drew me in. I was won over straight away with the contrast of the childish doodles and the grown up content that blended perfectly. It’s delightfully uncouth and I loved it. Are you tired of cheerfully oblivious aspirational books? Do you feel a bit grumpy when someone won't let up on the positivity? Is the worst problem in your life a bleedin' optimist who just won't let you have time to process the general awfulness? A horrible book. It might appeal to anyone who finds constant use of the F word amusing but in my opinion it is totally unnecessary and the book is about as amusing as having ones leg amputated A horrible book. Despite the cute cover and illustrations throughout, this is definitely intended for adults who can cope with strong language from panda bears.

I am here to lighten your load just a little bit. And so is the cat. The cat’s quite nice. He can be a bit selfish sometimes, I suppose.” I’ve been having bad days. Like really bad ones. Bumping into this book, I’m considering a proper bliss. I smiled, laughed and loved. This book defines “Feels like a warm hug”. So many quotes I loved and would love to share with everyone but unable to. Might share a separate post of favourites. Such dreamlike artistic illustrations, I’ve been swooning over! Ive bought this twice now, once as a present. Non stop laughter but simple and fab. Ive bought this twice now, once as a present. Non stop laughter but simple and fab. I'm not sure how this is supposed to be a parody of The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse because it doesn't follow a narrative or use the same format like The Woman, the Mink, the Cod and the Donkey does. The only similarity here is the font type.
