The story is sparse. Too few words for a book, too many for a calendar. As a book with graphics it almost works as a collector’s item. The big But is that the drawings don’t say much outside of the plot, and the writing does not express SK’s true talent, until the story finally breaks the mold around the middle of the year. The simple wording and plot can be attributed to the calendar concept. In my opinion, the book format doesn’t quite work, but by the time the writing and paintings were complete, the die was cast. a b Ebert, Roger (October 15, 1985). " "Silver Bullet" Movie Review & Film Summary (1985)". RogerEbert.com . Retrieved August 16, 2013.

It’s the quintessential small town: everybody knows each other, public events are held in high regard, gossip abounds, and everybody knows their way around by heart. These are simple people just looking to go about their lives in peace and comfort. The American Dream takes the form of quiet home life in the Northeast. A stellar werewolf tale that inspired a less-than-stellar 80’s film ripe for a remake, King’s “Cycle of the Werewolf” is an essential read. Lester Lowe: He is the reverend of the Grace Baptist Church in Tarker's Mill. He was discovered to be the werewolf by only Marty Coslaw during Halloween because of the eye-patch he wore after the incident during the fourth of July. Milt Sturmfuller was one of the werewolf’s final victims in the novel, but here he is the third victim. A 1985 film adaptation of Stephen King's Cycle of the Werewolf, produced by Dino De Laurentiis, directed by Daniel Attias, and starring Corey Haim, Megan Follows, Gary Busey, Everett McGill, Terry O'Quinn, and Lawrence Tierney.

The book is set for a digital release in mid- August of this year and It is categorized as a graphic novel. Under those circumstances one may draw certain conclusions about the book, the same way I did. As many of you know, I’ve recently developed an interest in graphic novels, comics and Manga. So, when I saw this book, it looked like it was a new release, and it was listed as a graphic novel. So, I got super excited, thinking it was a graphic novel, presented in the traditional comic book format, and was based on the original short story. What Happened to the Mouse?: The above-mentioned Vigilante Militia, who Marty never tries to tell about Lowe (although he might not have known about them due to being out of town for a while and being a kid whose parents don't talk to him much about what's going on). Gorn: Several of the illustrations through the book are quite gory, especially the dead pigs and the death of Milt Sturmfuller.

De Laurentiis PRODUCER'S PICTURE DARKENS: KNOEDELSEDER, WILLIAM K, Jr. Los Angeles Times 30 Aug 1987: 1. Given that Marty only actually appears in three of the book’s 12 chapters, the most significant additions to the story relate to his expanded role and the further development of the two characters who are closest to him: his sister, Jane ( Megan Follows), who is named Kate in the novella; and Uncle Red, who is named Uncle Al (it’s not totally clear why these name changes were made). In the case of the former, what is a traditional sibling rivalry in Cycle Of The Werewolf– an older sister being jealous of the parental attention received by her younger brother – becomes more evolved in Silver Bullet. Not only does Jane come to have a better relationship with Marty over the course of the movie, but she becomes an essential part of the story’s conflict, both helping search for a one-eyed man in Tarker’s Mill after the fireworks incident and standing by his side during the final battle. Saved by Canon: At the beginning of the film, an older Jane is narrating the story so it's clear that she'll survive the events of the film. Intergenerational Friendship: Virgil the gas station attendant seems to be familiar and friendly with Marty while filling up the silver bullet in one scene. Shaming the Mob: When the posse is organizing itself, Sheriff Haller tries talk them out of it. He is in turn shamed by Brady's dad, who's fresh off from his son's funeral.

Hero of Another Story: The gunsmith knows how to make silver bullets and one of his lines implies he is aware of the existence of werewolves. You have to wonder what exactly he has experienced prior to the events of this movie. Deputy Sylvester, who never appears when Haller is hearing Red and Marty's suspicions or after Haller is killed.
