Illustrations are bold, atmospheric and bursting with energy and there are plenty of laughs along the way. Even readers who wouldn't normally choose a comic book will have fun with this mega-adventure. Jötunn Base covers many miles and is carefully rebalancing the world’s climate, but has no defence when Wolfram arrives to reverse the chilling process to burn the Earth and drown humanity… Programmed as a dog, baby triceratops Trikey is ok, but French-speaking deranged ape Monsieur Gorilla can be mighty confusing, whilst gloomily annoying, existentialist aquatic fowl Stupid Philosophy Penguin hangs around ambushing everyone with quotes from dead philosophers…

In the aftermath, R.A.I.D. was formed. They tried to shut down Robertus and decommission Wolfram, but the superbot rejected their judgement, leading to a brutal battle, the robot’s apparent destruction and Roboticus escaping… Freddy’s dangerous boredom levels are soon decreased via a training regime that resembles a giant video game… Won the Silver Medal "Graphic Novel/Drawn Book – Drama/Documentary" Independent Publisher Book Award, for Henry V. [1] Usually, when a situation demands, the boys carry out missions for bossy Baroness Farooq: head of government agency Robotics Analysis Intelligence and Defence. They still believe it’s because they are infinitely smarter and more powerful than the Destroyer Mechs and other man-made minions she usually utilises.Amidst the massive mechanoid fights, explosions and laser battles, this fourth adventure for the Mega Robo Bros once again asks thoughtful questions about what makes us human and features its customary, inclusive cast of diverse characters. Usually, when a situation demands, the lads carry out missions for bossy Baroness Farooq: head of government agency Robotics Analysis Intelligence and Defence. They still believe it’s because they are infinitely smarter and more powerful than the Destroyer Mechs and other man-made minions she usually utilises. Of course, they’re on suspension from R.A.I.D. at the moment, due to the fallout and collateral damage of their last case… This amazing book republishes MEGA ROBO BROS, fully remastered and adapted into a new chunky format, with lots of extra bonus content! The book was released on June 2nd, 2016, which is followed by a sequel released in the same year known as Mega Robo Rumble, and another sequel released in January 2019 known as Mega Robo Revenge, which is about the two bros' half-brother Wolfram returning to get revenge on Dr. Nita Sharma for what happened during the events of Super Robo Seven (a comic that tells a story on what happened before Mega Robo Bros' events). When Robertus demoted Nita and made Wolfram leader of a new Super Robo Seven, the result was an even more effective unit, until the day Wolfram’s Three Directives clashed during a time-critical mission. Millions of humans paid the price for his confusion and hesitation…

Alongside reeling with high-stakes adventure, Double Threat is also fabulously inclusive, with messages of empathy, fabulous female characters, and incisive, witty deconstructions of gender stereotypes. If that’s not enough, it also boasts a whole lot of hilarious one-liners (“I can see your butt”) and relatable homelife scenarios - even superhero Mega Robo Bros have trouble finding their shoes from time to time. The dynamic Double Threat is bursting with excitement and empathy, perfect for reluctant readers and story lovers alike. And then, again, I get that 9 year old boys like this, but the amount of songs the robot bros make up about poopy butts and your face smelling like a butt and “I’m naked, I look great! Look at my butt!” Here, the boys are seen adapting to a new normal. Their exploit has made them global superstars and whilst immature Freddy is revelling in all the attention Alex is having trouble adjusting: not just to the notoriety and acclaim, but also the horrifying new power levels he achieved to succeed and also the apparent onset of robot puberty… Cool Big Sis: Susie Nichols, the babysitter and handler of Alex and Freddy and one of R.A.I.D.'s agents.

Keep in touch

All the same, life in the Sharma household is pretty normal. Freddie is insufferably exuberant and over-confident whilst Alex is at the age when self-doubt and anxiety begin to manifest. Of course, their parents’ other robot rescues can also be a bit of a trial. Programmed as a dog, baby triceratops Trikey is ok, but French-speaking deranged ape Monsieur Gorilla can be mighty confusing, whilst gloomily annoying, existentialist aquatic fowl Stupid Philosophy Penguin constantly quotes dead philosophers and makes most people rapidly consider self-harm or manic mayhem. Logical Weakness: Alex and Freddy deduce in Book 1 that, since Alex and Robot 23 are from the same facility, Robot 23 is likely just as susceptible to Magnetic Pulse Generators as Alex. Dad may be just your average old guy who makes lunch and does a bit of writing, but it’s recently become apparent that when not being a housewife Mum is a also a bit extraordinary. As surprisingly famous and renowned robotics boffin, Dr. Nita Sharma harbours some surprising secrets of her own… Robertus was astoundingly devoid of human empathy but – intrigued by the team’s acclaim and global acceptance – was inspired to create a new kind of autonomous robot. Wolfram was more powerful than any other construct, and also possessed certain foundational directives that allowed him to make choices and develop his own systems. He could think, like Alex and Freddy! Only, as it transpired, not quite… Story told, the amazed Robo Bros realise why Mum called the recently-returned Wolfram their brother. They are all unaware that the damaged, deranged droid is observing and has made a decision that will affect all humanity…

Coming of Age Story: for both Alex and Freddy, as they deal with normal kid problems growing up while being the youngest agents of R.A.I.D. Life in the Sharma household tries to be pretty normal. Freddie is insufferably exuberant and over-confident, whilst Alex is at the age when self-doubt and anxiety hit hard. Moreover, the household’s other robot rescues can also be problematic… A great start to a great series, what with the great characters, family drama, emotional moments, whimsical comedy stuff, and a pair of loveable, cute and precious robot brothers who work together in fighting off bad guys in spite of their differences. Over months, Nita grew into her job and eventually convinced Robertus to let her repurpose his individually superpowered prototypes into a rapid-response team for global emergencies. Mum used to be a superhero, leading manmade Rapid Response team the Super Robo Six! While saving lives with them she first met future husband Michael Mokeme who proudly took her name when they eventually wed… Cameron started out in British small press comics, most notably drawing Bulldog Empire, which also appeared in the small press section of Judge Dredd Megazine and was reprinted in the first volume of ILYA's Mammoth Book of Best New Manga. He provided the art for the Classical Comics's award-winning [1] adaptation of Henry V.

KILL IT DADDY

Also Stupid Philosophy Penguin is the best existential Sartre quoting deadpan comic relief that made for a great comic relief without being too preachy about its comic relief status. With humanity safe again the boys are well rewarded by Farooq, but completely unaware that an old enemy has ensured that the threat of Wolfram is not ended… I could tell you more, but there’s a wonderful little section at the end of the first Mega Robo Bros book, Power Up, where Freddy pretty much sums up all you need to know, in his own unique way!

A spinoff novel series focusing more on Freddy called the Awesome Robot Chronicles was released beginning with the book Freddy Vs. School in 7 January 2021, with a sequel titled Freddy and The New Kid releasing on 1 July 2021, followed by Freddy The Superstar, which was released on 2 June 2022. A hilarious first novel from Neill Cameron, creator of the Mega Robo Bros series and How to Make Awesome Comics. About This Edition ISBN: Catapult Nightmare: Alex suffers from one near the beginning of book 1, which unfortunately for him, foreshadows his connection to Robot 23. A smart, satisfying re-formatting and expansion of Mega Robo Rumble, Mega Robo Bros Double Threat will have comic fans on the edge of their seats while nodding with knowing grins on their faces. Award-winning Neill Cameron has an undeniable abundance of talent for creating rambunctious, reader-centred super hero adventures that grip, engage and entertain reluctant readers as much as committed fans of standard form novels and committed comic book lovers. In the aftermath, RAID was formed and sought to shut down Robertus and decommission Wolfram. When the superbot rejected their judgement, the agency deployed jets and missiles. Following a terrific struggle, they believed him destroyed. They were wrong… Also the later parts is where stuff gets exciting what with the foreshadowing from 'Mega Robo Routine' of Stupid Philosophy Penguin's "Hell is other people" and Alex's nightmare being the moments where it indicates that the future London that seems idyllic has some skeletons in the cupboard, what with the main antagonist of this book actually subtly hinted to have a connection with Alex.
