This part WAS green like the other 3D printed parts. I, after it was assembled, decided I wanted to paint it yellow. I covered the wheels with plastic sandwich baggies to prevent over spray on them.

I found out that the grill by it's self ISN'T sturdy enough to hold the servo. It allows the grill to wobble side to side, & eventually starts to open the front of the model. I painstakingly (ALL I have for tools EXCEPT the 3D printer, is hand tools, & a dremmel tool) machined out an aluminum mount that fits behind the grill, & bolted to the floor of it. This added strength to the model, & prevented the grill from wondering. Due to some parts being DELAYED, I'll have to wit a bit to finalize the Bruder D5 conversion. Here's what I've got so far.

8. Bruder 03524: Scania R-Series Timber Truck with Loading Crane

I've broken this post into smaller posts. I HOPE that's alright. If not, admin, please feel free to fix it. Stein mounted his Firgelli actuators differently than I. Since I added weight to mine, I mounted mine differently to be tougher with the added stresses of a heavier machine. Front panel, bonnet ornament, rear-view mirrors, exhaust pipe, roof lights, fanfares and radiator grille with chrome look continued..... IDk if this forum is lie others I visit, but if so, it will ONLY allow so much in a post. So, that said, I'll break into smaller segments.

I added weight into the wheels. More weight=more traction=bigger scoops, I HOPE! I gave the weighted wheels the special Skeeter treatment like I did the Bruder D4 conversion. I cut out for the Hitec HS-85MG Micro Servo. They are what I used as the propulsion system in this. I took apart the brand new servo's & removed the circitry board, & potentiometer, making it a continuous servo. I did this as this servo has a 25 tooth spline on it. 25T spline servo horns are far easier to come by then the ones that are used on the cheaper servo options. After disassembling the Bruder caterpillar I carefully marked, & drilled holes to hold the blade in place. We are proud to be one of the UK's leading suppliers of diecast scale models, farming and construction toys, vehicles and accessories. This conversion was previously done by Stein. If I remember right, he's an active member on this forum. I made the 3D print parts that he has designed & open sourced them. Once they were printed, I began putting my twist to this conversion.
