i didnt think i could love another so soon after Cade Eaton ( Heartless) lol, but NOAH BARDEN... I ADORE THIS MAN 😭 its like, if the shy, bossy Joshua Templeman ( The Hating Game), broody Brendan Taggart ( It Happened One Summer), and grumpy daddy Cade were all mixed together, Noah would be the farmer, small town, SUPERIOR version that came out of these three. A very real marriage with burgeoning very real feelings makes it ever harder for Noah to keep his love for Shay underwraps, even as his actions and deeds prove every day that he's all in from the start. i adored this book, the small town setting and all the characters especially gennie—the foul mouthed, unhinged, pirate loving 6 year old was the perfect addition and the STAR to this book. In a Jam is on the long side for a contemporary romance, but it doesn't feel that way. I read this on audio and Jason Clarke and Kit Swann really nailed it. Clarke especially got Noah's growly bits, but the humor and sadness and soft moments were gorgeously narrated by both. Swann's treatment of Shay's self-doubt and general sense of being unmoored was beautiful. While I'm sure it's a great ebook, I strongly recommend this on audio.

This book was everything I wanted and needed. Shay’s insecurities and abandonment issues shot me through the chest (yes, I cried, more than once). Noah’s growly grumpy persona and silent pining absolutely killed me. And GENNIE!!! The sweet 1st grade pirate with ADHD.
