The Power of Geography: Ten Maps that Reveal the Future of Our World is a book on geopolitics by the British author and journalist Tim Marshall. It was published by Elliott & Thompson in 2021 and is the sequel to his 2015 book Prisoners of Geography.

Originally from Leeds, Tim arrived at broadcasting from the road less traveled. Not a media studies or journalism graduate, in fact not a graduate at all, after a wholly unsuccessful career as a painter and decorator he worked his way through newsroom nightshifts, and unpaid stints as a researcher and runner before eventually securing himself a foothold on the first rung of the broadcasting career ladder. So why this style of children’s books, with maps and facts, not games aiding the development of the senses? p. 133 - "This is partially drive by the English language, which is spoken as a first tongue by upwards of 500 million people and by 1 billion people as a second. It remains the main language of commerce and international legal contracts. the UK's higher education system continues to attract some of the brightest and best (and richest) students." In this sequel of Prisoners of Geography, Marshall explores secondary/tertiary powers not covered in the original, their history, geographical advantages/limitations and current and future role in their particular region/world. The planet's geography is apathetic, indifferent, absolutely heartless and therefore - it rules. Those who proclaim to be its imperators and czars are able to hold those epithets only by being indistinguishable in its camouflage - the fusion thereby making 'geopolitics'. p. 185 - "By 2020 Turkey had fallan out with Syria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE Kuwait, Israel Iran, Amenia, Greece Cyprus, and France and had irritated all of its NATO allies by buying the S-400 missile defence system from NATO's great rival Russia. [2] He released an illustrated children’s version called “Prisoners of Geography: Our World Explained in 12 Simple Maps”, which was nominated for Waterstones Book of the Year.
