Smooth shank nails are one of the most popular forms of roofing nail available. With no thread, the smooth shank nail relies on the friction between the wood fibres and the smooth shank for resistance and holding power. Smooth shank nails can be used in a wide range of general construction applications, and provide enough strength and holding power for most uses. Clout nails

Some people try special curved mattresses that are designed to distribute the weight of a baby's head over a larger area so less pressure is placed on a particular point of their skull. Copper nails are most commonly used to fix slates on pitched roofs, but can also be used to secure roofing tiles in place. Copper is also used to create slate straps, which are used on slate roofs to hold broken slates in place, either as a temporary fix or a more long term solution. Stainless steel nails Stainless steel nails can be used for installing cladding, fascia, securing tiles, slate and other roofing materials, and are particularly useful in industrial areas or coastal areas where chemicals and salt are present – where aluminium nails wouldn’t be suitable. Galvanised steel nailsThe appearance of your child's head should improve as they become more mobile and their hair grows. A ring shank nail should be used on softwood that isn’t known to split, and should not be used on hardwood as it will damage the material if and when the ring shank nail is removed. Smooth shank nails Countersunk and cupped heads have a conical shape and are designed so they can be easily driven just below the surface to create smoother finish. The primary function of the nail is to hold the material together in an axial direction by friction and subsequent shearing force. Sometimes the tip of the nail is also bent or clamped after driving to prevent it from coming out.

You may consider using a helmet or headband if you're worried about your child, but it's not clear whether these always work. The nail points are diamond-shaped, that’s valid for general use and makes it easy to drive the nails. Some nails have blunt points that make them harder to drive but less likely to split the workpiece. #2 Head change the position of toys and mobiles in their cot – this will encourage your baby to turn their head on to the non-flattened side Typically, nails have a pointed tip at one end and a flattened head at the other, but they are also available without a head. Nails are generally driven into the workpiece using a hammer or pneumatic nail gun.

Classic nails

The nail shank is the part that does most of the holding. The nail shanks keep the nails in position even under extreme pressure. This shank is tied in place between the fibers of the wood, and the fibers are pressed against the shank. Use aluminum nails, which resist rust even better than rust-resistant coatings, if you’re worried about rust harming your nails. They are most commonly found on metal siding or screens. Galvanised nails can be used in a wide range of applications, but are most commonly used in the installation of asphalt shingles and felt on outbuildings, sheds and more – wherever adverse weather conditions are common, galvanised nails are a good choice.
