In the mouth: Like a milky menthol cigarette, a Newport! There is a creamy coating mouthfeel. Old dried honey. Herbaceous; basil, mint. Lemon pepper. It makes me salivate and deserves a little water, then comes the friendlier Bit-O-Honey and lime rind. Conclusions: a b "Diageo plc and Pernod Ricard SA to acquire Seagram spirits and wine business". Diageo. 20 December 2000. Archived from the original on 25 October 2007 . Retrieved 1 October 2007. At full strength with small sips, this is an incredible and notable whisky. I almost always prefer cask strength bottlings with at least some water added. In this case, adding water does smooth it out and is still okay, but also significantly diminishes the experience. MILLION DISTILLERY EXPANSION SIGNALS THE GLENLIVET'S BID FOR GLOBAL LEADERSHIP IN SINGLE MALT SCOTCH WHISKY" . Retrieved 5 June 2010. Palate: Rich-textured, which one would expect from a high-strength, non chill filtered whisky. Sweet vanilla, honey, spices, and quite a hit of sweet, juicy peach lie over a bed of toasted oak, melon, mild floral notes, poached pear, and hazelnut.

Nose Intense barley sugar and a deep, complex vegetal and citrussy barley note. Confectionary or candied peach and pear. Rose dominated floral note. The last Nadurra they made had a short life. They stopped making The Nadurra 16 in 2014. Even before I knew they were 86-ing it, it was my favorite TGL. Not because it had an age statement, not because it had no chill filtration, or had never been pigmented, but because of the excellent taste! Strong cheeses: Aged cheddar, blue cheese, or even smoked gouda can stand up to the rich flavors of Glenlivet Nadurra Oloroso, making them great pairings for this cask strength whisky. The Original Malt Whisky Almanac - A Taster's Guide. Glasgow, Scotland: Neil Wilson Publishing. p.45. ISBN 978-1-897784-68-6. Nose: LOTS of vanilla. Am I allowed to say “Vanilla Bomb”? Perfumey. Some light, but non-cloying touches of butterscotch. White peach and buttered toast. A satisfying, concentrated aroma.

Italy's Campari seals whisky deal". BBC News Online. BBC. 23 December 2005 . Retrieved 1 October 2007. Overall: I love that there isn't anything this malt could hide behind like peat or sherry. Despite the age in the cask, the underlying spirit really comes out and I wish there was more of that in newer whisky releases. Palate: The underlying malt really shines through with this, and that's something I greatly appreciate in a whisky and something that is harder to find. This isn't drowned in peat or sherry. The palate is very refreshing, with vanilla, honey, a bit of milk chocolate and "smarties" candy. And again, it is a light mouthfeel despite the strength. So it was with some relief when I saw the last of that bottle that my wife, brother in law, sister in law and I had struggled through.History in the baking". British Baker. William Reed Publishing Ltd. 12 September 2006 . Retrieved 1 October 2007.

The distillery has 7 wash stills each with a capacity of 15,000 litres and 7 spirit stills with a capacity of 10,000 litres. [6] The spirit is then matured in oak casks. [5] It was also with some excitement that I saw a sample of another batch of Nadurra had arrived in a recent whisky trade that I did with a friend of mine from Queensland, Systemdown.

Orchard fruit mixed with banana heavy tropical fruit, a sweet maltiness and some oak rise slowly, but with power. Some great notes of baking spices and toasted nuts appear after a few minutes and the oak became a bit stronger the longer it breathed and opened up. Finish: Sipping this neat leads to a long finish that still features a burning alcohol note prominently. There’s a touch of wood but the strongest flavor is that of green apples, perhaps a nod to the youthfulness of the spirit. There’s also a bitter tannic note on the end of the finish, which isn’t the most inviting when considering another sip. People ask my advice on what whisky to buy all the time, family, friends, strangers on the internet, and it’s always an enjoyable task for me. If you want to buy a present to impress someone, and you aren’t sure their flavor preferences, Nadurra 16 is the perfect bottle. It’s familiar, it’s offbeat, and the notes are classic yet curious. Even the cool kids who think they know TGL and claim not to be riveted by any of their core expressions are always seduced when I pour them a Nadurra 16. Although The Glenlivet is widely believed to be the oldest operational distillery in Scotland, it isn’t. That honour goes to Strathisla, while Glen Garioch could be even older. The Glenlivet was however one of the first to take out one of the new licences issued after the passing of the 1823 Excise Act which is accepted as being the starting point of the modern Scotch whisky industry. Nose : Fragrant and vibrant, lots of vanilla, wood spice, and floral notes, on top of some honey and toasted oak and ripe bananas, from the 1st fill American oak casks used.
