For those looking for an APS-C lens that is L mount for say a Leica CL, Sigma has three that are currently out. I reviewed the 56mm f1.4, which you can find here, and I’ll be writing a review for the 30mm soon. Sigma also has a wide angle currently out, it’s the 16mm f1.4 DC DN Contemporary lens. I had a chance to test it on a CL for a while, and here’s what I think of it. Sigma 16mm f1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens Build Quality: The massive focus ring functions as a great gripping point, allowing for some good weight distribution andcomfortable holding/stabilizing. In general, the more a lens diaphragm is stopped down, the larger and better-shaped the sunstars tend to be. The new SIGMA 16mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary is the world's first interchangeable lens for mirrorless Sony E-mount cameras in the APS-C format to offer a 24mm focal length (35mm equivalent) and F1.4 brightness. The lens for Micro Four Thirds offers a 32mm focal length (35mm equivalent) with the same f-number of 1.4. This is the large-diameter wide-angle lens for which mirrorless camera users have been waiting. Samples taken from the outer extreme of the image circle, full-frame corners, can be counted on to show a lens's weakest performance.

While the 16mm focal length and f/1.4 aperture are highly suited for night sky photography, this lens's rendering of peripheral stars is not. This guy DOES NOT sit still, so a sharp picture of him is a testament to the lens’s AF capabilities. AF-C/EyeAF Note that when used for action sports with a close and rapidly approaching subject, the subject rapidly changes size in the frame, making it challenging to capture the perfect pose at the perfect framing distance in the 16mm angle of view.
