Originally known as 'The Stores Depot', we opened our doors for business on Wednesday 12 February 1879. From our first home in the historic St John’s Gate in Clerkenwell, London, we began supplying first aid equipment such as horse-drawn ambulances for hospitals, the Armed Forces, railway companies, the City of London Corporation and St John Ambulance. Eight years later, with the inception in 1887 of the St John Ambulance Brigade; uniforms, insignia and many other items were added to 'The Stores' range.
