Is this love doomed or will their love prevail despite the pressure of religious differences?

Nero and Phoebe ’s journey was erotic romance with a bit of dark rolled in it and it just worked for me because they were so evenly matched. While Nero was big, bold and in your face, Phoebe was slow, subtle and a hit you when you least expected it. The force of their personalities made it so neither one could be ignored and that lead to so many truths being exposed and dealt with, sometimes painfully, but dealt with. Heroine is engaged throughout her affair with the hero- though her fiancée is in coma in hospital and later dies. It was so sweet to watch them fall in love. I felt invested in them, felt the connection, and loved the heat when they were together. I hope the author brings more of this into her other books. If a character is damaged and lashes out I want to understand why. Not a guy who’s just and ass for the sake of it. Give me someone I can connect to and who I can see grow. She nailed it for me in this book. This is what I want in a book. If I'm being completely honest I'm not sure this is the book for me. When I read the summary I was intrigued about how the main character, Nero, never left his house. His troubles reminded me somewhat of the Fifty Shades trilogy and Phoebe being the only one who could help him. Beauty and the Billionaire Beast: Destination Billionaire Romance is by Maria Hoagland. This series takes the reader to a variety of destinations. Each place is unique and interesting. The place makes the story more enchanting. There is enough spontaneity to the adventure that it isn’t predictable. This book takes place in Louisiana, near New Orleans. When he ends up losing 10 assistants in a month, he is surprised when the prim and proper Phoebe applies for it. He is instantly intrigued by her. Since I absolutely adored the first book in this series, I was super excited for this. And it wasn't disappointing.

Hero does kiss an escort which the heroine gets for him in frustration (though they resemble the heroine) This story was more heartbreaking than I was expecting. We got a glimpse of Nero in the first book and I was really looking forward to his story. He came off as a moody, dominant man that was a bit mysterious. I wasn't really expecting him to be such a jerk. All he cared about was what he wanted and he expects everyone around him to comply. He's been through so many assistants that word has spread and no one wants to work for him despite the generous salary. Except Phoebe.I have to say that I wasn't expecting the story to turn out the way it did. At first I wasn't sure I'd like the story, since Nero came off as an A rate jerk but he grew on me really fast and in the end I really felt for him. His past nearly destroyed his future. He lived in terrible conditions as a child and was abused, so that left him with deep scars and with the fear to leave his comfort places. It's been years since he stepped out of his house, so of course he needed help from various assistants to get him things from the stores and so on. And that's where we get to met his new assistant, Phoebe. She needs the money that comes with her being by his side 24/7. He can be insanely demanding but over the time she comes to see his scars and fears. With that she of course wants to help him but that's easily said than done. You could say this is a story about two people that end up helping each other to get over their demons. I found the story to be well written and I did like the authors style of storytelling. What I couldn't get on board with were the characters. Nero was an unlikable asshole this whole entire book and I never once saw a redeemable quality in him. What's so great about beastly protagonists is that underneath their growl is a good person. Not the case here, at least for me.

The first scene that really got me and really made get this and enjoy it was the scene in her bedroom where Nero was trying to get her admit that she wanted. He pushed her, but in a very nice and caring way. It was clear that he cared about her. For first time in her life someone put her needs before their own, and in fact this was the first time that put someone else needs before his own. Usually he took what he wanted no questions asked and it would be all about him, but not in this instance with Phoebe. He was kind and caring during those moments with her, wanting show her pleasure without pressure. She never had that before. He helped her through and guided her in this pleasurable journey where she didn't have hide any longer. She could just let go and did in a big way. Phoebe on the other hands needs the job to pay bills for a fiancée who's been in coma for two years. She's been loyal to Charles.. until she meets Nero. I think that besides the condition identified in the novel Nero might suffer from another condition and I’m glad there was no miraculous solution for his problems. Phoebe has issues of her own, you see, and because she can't quit her job for the aforementioned financial issues with her comatose fiance, she eventually realizes that although their issues differ markedly, both she and Nero are broken inside, and since Phoebe is the last to admit her own problems, she considers herself to be a fixer, and certainly comes to recognize Nero's problems. While I didn't dislike Phoebe I didn't like that she was so weak and so easily manipulated by the people who should care about her the most, especially when the details of her relationship with Charles were revealed.

Emma finds herself in Lousiana on the trail of solving her family's mystery and finding their lost treasure. While she has hit deadend after deadend, she refuses to give up. A chance encounter with a handsome stranger has her searching for a plantation called Indigo Pointe. It is not easy to find. But with a little help from the unseen, she discovers it hidden off the beaten path. Prior to arriving at his home/office, Phoebe has attempted to do a little research on the reclusive billionaire, but there isn't much information available about him. There are rumors, though. Some say he hasn't left his house or been seen in public in a decade--his specialty is IT, and he can work from home. He's not quite sure what to make of quiet, sedate little Phoebe. It seems that the very behaviors that have caused previous assistant after assistant to flee his home don't seem to ruffle Phoebe's feathers, and although at first she doesn't understand why Nero expects instant gratification in all things, she slowly begins to realize the depth of his issues although she doesn't know the cause.

After reading 'The Billionaire's Virgin' I was intrigued by Nero the mysterious half brother to Xavier and Lorenzo and I was looking forward to his book. This is my first book by Maria Hoagland and I can tell you that it definitely won't be my last! I am looking forward to reading more by her! :) It is an enthralling story, one where the very caring nature of Phoebe has an impact on the traumatised Nero. As secrets from the past are revealed, both have experienced tragedies in their lives which impact on their attitudes and behaviour. It is not a typical romance but is a delightful story that I thoroughly enjoyed escaping into and have no hesitation in highly recommending! This is the first time I have read this series although I have read all of the authors “Sin City Royals” and “Texas Bounty” books. In fact, the book I read and reviewed before this one was from one of those series. In the review for that I made a comment that Ashenden’s books are hit or miss for me as sometimes it seems her male characters move from general assholeness to just downright cruel and for no reason. I have real issues with those, as their actions make no sense. But this book, this book nailed it. She took a character who yeah, started out pretty cold, selfish, and assholey, and made me UNDERSTAND him. That’s what I am looking for in a book. I want to understand the motives behind the characters thoughts and actions, even if those thoughts and actions aren’t what I would have wanted.
