Kevin Andrew Bridges (born 13 November 1986) is a Scottish stand-up comedian. His 2012 television series Kevin Bridges: What's the Story? was based on his stand-up routines. On the surface, Declan and James have little in common – they grew up in the same town, sure, but one is an internationally known writer/director/actor, and the other is cruising through college and nights in the pub. They are both at crossroads in their lives, but whether they are taking the right path remains to be seen. However, people like Richard Osman and now Kevin Bridges have convinced me that it is not always a bad thing. That some people's talents can move away from their day job into a new field and can be a success.

As I said, there is a focus on mental health, and especially the kind of poor mental health that comes out of modern life – I will leave you with the quote from the book that I felt most distilled what I’ve often tried to articulate: His debut DVD, titled Kevin Bridges: The Story So Far... Live in Glasgow, filmed at Glasgow's SECC, was released on 22 November 2010, [8] and went on to sell over 350,000 copies. [9] Kevin Bridges What's The Story: Referendum Special". BBC. 14 September 2014 . Retrieved 29 November 2018. This was such an enjoyable book. Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Both Declan's and James's lives are in trouble but maybe a chance meeting will give them both an opportunity to inspire each other to greatness.....

Bridges became disillusioned with stand-up after his 145 night tour in 2015. After having a discussion with his dad, he decided to take a sabbatical from performing. [13] During this period he moved to Spain and was eventually inspired by the freedom he had to return to stand-up. [14] When Bridges returned from Spain, he did "three or four" unannounced work-in-progress gigs to test out his new material. [15] For me Glasgow is captured perfect in this book, it is not over the top with the no mean city stereotype or doesn’t romanticise places he just writes like it is, your slightly overbearing maw who loves you dearly but would boot your arse gladly. A life-affirming debut novel from one of Britain's most-loved comedians, Kevin Bridges - exploring dysfunctional friendships, family, and how to face your problems head on. A truly brilliant book, the best ARC I’ve read this year, a sure in for my top 10 books of the year. And you don’t have to look too far to see parallels with this fiction and Bridges’ own life, from his own working-class roots in Clydebank to fame and acclaim in stand-up.
