Description

The documentation that we got from BenQ about this projector claimed it has a natural resolution of 3840 x 2160 or ‘True 4K’ as it is referred, but a deeper dive into the details reveals that definition is more marketing than certified. We are always transparent about where our information comes from so that you don’t have to waste time and money buying the wrong thing. BenQ quotes 3,000 lumens, and in our testing it exceeded those numbers marginally. This makes it perfect for those locations that aren’t entirely devoid of ambient light, or outdoors at night with the biggest possible screen size. The TK800 doesn’t carry a native 3,840 x 2,160 set
of DLP ‘mirrors’, but can manipulate these mirrors fast enough to deliver two pixels from each mirror for every image frame. This, in conjunction with proprietary Texas Instruments processing, delivers a 4K effect that’s hard to distinguish from native 4K.

However, be aware that if you do want a passive 3D projector, 4K resolution, and affordable 3D glasses, you’ll need to hunt extensively for the right components. zoom maximizes available space with a range of throw distances for big-screen entertainment without the hassle of complicated installation. TK800’s lightweight design and sleek, compact profile accentuates beautiful aesthetics as well as intuitive functionality and eco-friendly design. A chic addition to your living room décor with easy setup, TK800 makes your home entertainment simple and comfortable for friends and family to enjoy parties, sports, movies. The Epson Home Cinema 5040UB 3D projector offers the best of both full HD and 4K worlds. It straddles the line between full HD and Ultra HD effortlessly, giving you so many good features that it’s nearly impossible to list them all. For starters, the 5040UB creates an amazingly crisp and detailed picture. While it only offers a native resolution of 1920×1080 pixels, the included 4K enhancement mode simulates UHD resolution that’s nearly indiscernible from native 4K. The projector also includes the DCI-P3 color gamut, which offers more colors than standard sRGB options. Upgraded with dramatically wider frequency range from powerful 5-watt audio housed in a resonant sound chamber for deep bass and soaring highs. BenQ CinemaMaster Audio+ 2 technology provides custom-tuned sound modes to deliver ideal audiovisual experiences for any type of entertainment, as if you were there live. While we always recommend placing any projector in as dark a room as possible, we did notice that the TK800 did better in brighter areas than the HT2550 did, especially when the projector was placed in Vivid TV mode. While we preferred the better color accuracy of cinema mode, which brought out the most depth and saturation in the content we we viewed, Vivid TV mode did the best to compete with ambient light, and we’d not hesitate to choose this mode if we weren’t easily able to darken our space or wait until sundown to watch our favorite shows and movies. The resonance chamber enhances the wider frequency range especially for deeply resonant bass from a compact speaker. Passive is a newer type of technology that uses polarization in both the display and the active shutter glasses to display the 3D effect.

But, the first question that most people will ask about this product will be is it truly 4K? Defining True 4KA 1.2× optical zoom makes the projector very easy to place. We enjoyed this feature, as it enabled us to place the projector a bit closer to the screen in our cramped basement — we got a 100-inch, 16:9 picture at a little over 12 feet from the screen. It’s worth noting that there is no vertical or horizontal lens shifting, image adjustment is limited to three rubber feet (one on the front and two on the rear) of the projector for anyone not mounting the projector. Contrast is rated at a respectable 10,000:1, while a
new colour wheel with 'ultra-precise' red, green and blue coatings – and brightness-boosting white elements
– claims an impressive 92 per cent coverage of the REC.709 colour space. We tested the TK800 in our home theater in both complete darkness and with blinds open and lights on, in addition to one outdoor movie night. In general, we were very impressed with its performance in all scenarios. We primarily tested the projector with a Roku Ultra, but we also played media from a PC via HDMI. Riley Young/Digital Trends Our mission is to empower you to find the product you’re looking for and get exactly the information you need to make the right buying decision. We had no problem installing the TK800 ourselves, but if you have a more complex setup that requires new cable runs, ceiling mounting, and various other fine adjustments, we always recommend hiring a professional to save you long-term headaches. Just like the HT2550 model, the TK800 is very compact and light, making it easy to take outside for movie nights, or for other portable use.

BenQ TK800 Reviews, Pros and Cons | TechSpot

Input Lag: Input lag at 44 ms on the TK800 is slightly faster than the 50 ms on the W1700. This is fine for most casual gaming, but serious or professional gamers may want a faster unit since many 1080p projectors can get down to 16 ms. However, they are not 4K projectors - 44 ms is about as fast as we've seen on 4K models" Arabic/ Bulgarian/ Croatian/ Czech/ Danish/ Dutch/ English/ Finnish/ French/ German/ Greek/ Hindi/ Hungarian/ Italian/ Indonesian/ Japanese/ Korean/ Norwegian/ Polish/ Portuguese/ Romanian/ Russian/ Simplified Chinese/ Spanish/ Swedish/ Turkish/ Thai/ Traditional Chinese (28 Languages) resolution is particularly astonishing and we loved how it turned our home into a comfortable mini-cinema.The number of lumens in a projector directly affects the quality and brightness of light that the projector can emit. It is important to determine what you are going to use the projector for, at what distance, and what the natural lighting conditions are, as this will determine how many lumens will be required to ensure that the 3D projection is effective.
