The Hernkyn Pioneer vehicles have plenty of detail for you to flex your skills, but not too intricate that you feel intimidated or overwhelmed. Their society was based around their underground mining Strongholds which allied together for trade and mutual defence into the 700 Leagues. Binding this society together were ‘Guilds’ of scientists and technicians, whose understanding of technology outstripped the Adeptus Mechanicus. Long-lived, the oldest squats developed a psychic connection with the spirits of their forebears, becoming wise and puissant Ancestor Lords. This kit can alternatively be built as a standard Kâhl, a powerful leader for Kinhosts of any League.* Grimnyr Objectives that the unit claims remain claimed even after they move off it, continuing apattern of 10th edition battleline units having strong interactions with scenario victory conditions. Leagues of Votann models There’s much profit to be found in the esoteric salvage secreted aboard these rotting void-barges – and you can acquire it for the glory of your own Hold with five cybernetically-enhanced Cthonian Beserks, five diamond-hard Einhyr Hearthguard, and 10 geared-up Hearthkyn Warriors, all led by a proud Einhyr Champion. Imperial Agents

I haven’t got too far in painting my Votann yet, mostly just undercoated, but I have confirmed my paint scheme and painted one up. You can see this one above. I decided on a grey sort of functional jumpsuit-like base coat, highlighted some of the armour with a bright orange, and then threw in some vivid blue to make some of the gear pop. Then it was just a bit of a wash on the armour to ‘dirty’ it a bit, and on to the base. I’m quite happy with how the base turned out actually, I wanted a sort of ‘walking on the moon’ look so I used Astrogranite Debris then dry brushed Grey Seer over the top. Demons Run, When A Good Dwarf Goes To War* Thunderkyn (Heavy Support) cost about as much for unit of 3 as bikes (or 10 Warriors, for that matter) and are only decent long range shooting infantry unit. This kit can also build a Kâhl of your own to lead the Oathband. This doughty overseer comes with a selection of heads, and can be armed with your choice of potent STC weapons , as well as a rampart crest or teleport crest. Grimnyr These are your punchy melee fighters. Cthonian Beserks wield high-tech mining equipment like heavy plasma axes and concussion mauls, which they use to destructive effect in close combat. I've watched and also played some Combat Patrol games recently, where a Votann army was against Space Marines. I've played with both armies, but got 4 total games using the Votann Combat Patrol. These are the speedsters of the group, but they are also pretty tough. You’ll be able to whizz them around the board without worrying too much about them instantly disappearing. They have a solid chance of hitting and a lot of shots to pump out at the enemy. Especially if you take the rotary cannon (and if you’re not, why?! It’s a gatling gun!). Even in groups of 3 these guys will be something for your opponent to worry about. Hearthkyn Warriors Much of the history of the old-school Squats (more on them below) has made it intoWarhammer 40k’s brand new, refreshed Leagues of Votann lore. Just like the Squats, the Leagues are the descendants of early human space colonists and prospectors who settled in the hazardous, mineral-rich galactic core. But there are some important differences. This guy is your powerhouse and is made of pure stubborn. Kahls are similar but this guy just takes it up another level. He is hard to kill, you’d have to focus him down, and has some really nasty weapon options for close combat. If you can keep him from getting shot off the table too soon, he’ll take many enemies down with him. Cthonian Beserkers

Hearthkyn form the rank and file of a Kinhost , clad in durable void armour and laying down storms of fire from bolt and ion weaponry. They’re an essential part of any Leagues of Votann force, forming squads of up to 20 warriors for the ultimate in objective defence.* Hernkyn Pioneers This picture comes from Reddit and is from their new codex book. Generally, the picture in the book of the combat patrol has been pretty spot on, and the units inside make sense actually to come in the box. I think this is a really tough call and honestly, I’m not sure how I’d want to really mix-max everything at this point. Without having seen any real games or tournament data on the army we’re all going in based on the Dataslates here. That said, if we’re starting a new army I’d want to keep my options open. I also am not the type of person who only collects the “power units” and that’s it. So, if this was my army, I’d split the difference and get one unit of each the Hearthguard (225 points + wargear) and Thunderkyn (120 points + wargear). And as far as character support I’d go with the Grminyr (90 points). Several types of goods are exempt from being returned. Perishable goods such as newspapers or magazines cannot be returned. We also do not accept products that are intimate or sanitary goods, hazardous materials, or flammable liquids or gases. HearthkynWarriors– the first Leagues of Votann models ever to beshown off– form the core of their armies. Squads of up 20 hardy warriorsare led into battle by their Theyns. Their void armour is tough, and their weaponry is better than the finest creations of the disciples of Mars. Though they are adapted and trained for war, unlike Space Marines, the Hearthkyn have lives outside of battle.

New Combat Patrol Spotted for the Leagues of Votann

Add variety to your armoured spearheads with the Deimos Pattern Predator Support Tank. This kit has five deadly new turret options – a neutron blaster, a flamestorm cannon, a heavy conversion beam cannon, an executioner plasma destroyer, and a magna-melta cannon. Run them in squadrons to maximise a single type of weapon output, or mix and match to create a responsive threat. The toughest obstacles require a vehicle of tremendous power to break through, and the Hekaton Land Fortress serves with distinction. Festooned with weapons and capable of carrying a large number of troops, this impressive battle tank is a fearsome asset on the battlefield, dealing damage and soaking up punishment in equal measure.* Leagues of Votann Dice Set This brings our total to 1845 points + wargear. I think this is the more well rounded version and give you the chance to actually use these units before you decide to play with other options. Or before you opt to follow a specific playstyle for the army. You can always go all-in with the other direction later. The List
