That was a good choice and gave me more to think about as well. I find I can't discuss much without spoilers so I'll put those after the divider below. The Old Man and the Sea, short heroic novel by Ernest Hemingway, published in 1952 and awarded the 1953 Pulitzer Prize for fiction. It was his last major work of fiction. The story centres on an aging fisherman who engages in an epic battle to catch a giant marlin. Summary She was born Elaine Rita Brimberg in New York City. Her Polish Jewish immigrant father, Samuel Brimberg, was an office furniture manufacturer and a violent bully. [1] Her mother was of Latvian Jewish descent; she was the daughter of a multimillionaire manufacturer and inventor. Dundy was one of three sisters; a sibling was Shirley Clarke, the independent filmmaker. [2] Dundy grew up in a Park Avenue home where she was educated by a governess, though she eventually attended high school, where her boyfriend Terry was the son of playwright Maxwell Anderson. Later, they met again and almost married. [1] In a trial in Birmingham, Anthony was found not guilty but with a second one looming he absconded and ended up in Amsterdam. So I went. I had nothing better to do, had I, except recount my money and repaint my finger-nails and die of frustration?

Jason begins digging in earnest. He begins to piece together the story of The Old Man’s life. It’s a story that is riddled with a man who makes millions but saves nothing, prizes freedom but spends years inside, works in a violent world but who – seemingly – avoids violence. Spencer was absent, often in prison, for much of his upbringing but now, as his father recovers from the shooting, Jason begins to wonder. After his release this time, Anthony became involved in international drug smuggling, illegally importing hash and amphetamine. So of course "The Old Man and Me' would be of interest, but beyond that, it is quite a remarkable novel on various levels. The thing that really caught my attention is that she really got into the language of the British and its difference from American English. Two, she has some knowledge (of course) on the British personality and how that works with the American personality. And three, this is a really smart novel about how cultures merge - especially in early 1960's London. The main character resembles a much sweeter Patricia Highsmith twisted character who is dealing with identity and revenge of sorts. She knows what she wants, but does not know why she wants it. And that is the main problem with "Honey Flood." She goes out to seduce, but she gets seduced and its a weird journey from naive to knowing.
