Now thankfully through working with bands such as Massive Attack amongst others her voice is recognised to a wider audience and she is getting the recognition she deserves. I'm starting to think there are no good vinyl releases of this album, nothing beats the 24bit lossless files you can get online. Its genius really as there have been so many songs i've loved and heard over the years and thought they meant something i actually heard or interpreted, only to be shown the lyrics and it was completely different, almost an anti climax. That unmistakable Cocteau bass and guitar, loads of reverb softening the sound to the typical sonic dreamscape. I've listened to tracks on this album hundreds of times and this does not hold a candle to the original 1990 CD mix or the 2003 digital remaster.

Breaks my heart too - the Cocteau Twins are my favorite band, but holy s*** - the compression and brickwalling on Iceblink Luck is unforgivable, the entire LP sounds muffled compared to the digital version, and I'm convinced there are stereo balancing issues occurring with the mix in the first track, 'Cherry-coloured Funk'.

The ethereal sounds of Elizabeth Fraser's vocals, paired with the dreamy instrumentals, are perfectly captured in this vinyl edition. Heaven or Las Vegas followed in 1990 and is recognised as their most commercially successful release, reaching number seven in the UK album charts. The working title of the song “Heaven or Las Vegas” was “Crispy Fiver Blue,” a joke name that Melody Maker had included in a lampoon of the band’s tendency toward eccentric titles.

are repressing two more Cocteau Twins’ albums on vinyl this coming March, the albums Head Over Heels and Treasure. After dreaming off, we wake up to 'Iceblink Luck', with that lovely bell-like guitar and melodious bass and glorious chorus.Secondary copies sent out will be opened and inspected before being re-shipped to guarantee a non defective replacement. After nearly 20 years together, the band disbanded in 1997 in part due to issues stemming from the disintegration of Fraser and Guthrie's romantic relationship.

After signing with the British record label 4AD in 1982, they released their debut album Garlands later that year. Using new masters created from high definition files transferred from the original analogue tapes, both albums are being pressed on 180g heavyweight vinyl and come with download codes. They were formed in Grangemouth by Robin Guthrie (guitars, drum machine) and Will Heggie (bass), adding Elizabeth Fraser (vocals) in 1981 and replacing Heggie with multi-instrumentalist Simon Raymonde in 1983. Released in 1990, Heaven or Las Vegas was the band's most commercially successful release, reaching number seven in the UK album charts. Deciding to scale back the overly pretty sound on Blue Bell Knoll while experimenting with more accessibility the Twins ended up creating their best album since Treasure. The record is flat, clean, 150g, no sticker, bass seems slightly less than on my original CD, this is mastered loud. An alternate version of “Pitch the baby” was recorded and released on the Mute Records/4AD compilation “Red Tape.

Bought this for three particular tracks - namely 'Road, River and Rail', the title track and 'Fifty fifty Clown'. In 1988, Cocteau Twins signed with Capitol Records in the United States, distributing their fifth album, Blue Bell Knoll, through a major label in the country. I only "discovered" the Cocteau Twins a couple of weeks ago, thanks to Steve Lamacq on 6 Music when he played the whole albumn on one of his shows and I knew then and there, that I had to have this album! The group earned critical praise for their ethereal, effects-laden sound and the soprano vocals of Fraser, whose lyrics often eschew any recognisable language. The reissue only scratches the surface of the sound involved in this pressing- the reissue lacks any of the passion and depth of this lp; it just sits there where this pressing surrounds you with their sound. RARE hard to find on vinyl, 10 track LP from the dream pop / shoegaze pioneers with colour inner sleeve. Fraser simply captivates; her vocals are the clearest, most direct they've ever been, purring with energy and life.
