What a dream of a book to read, I have literally read this within 24 hours, as I couldn't put it down. It had old school Hollywood glamour, drama ,fighting, mystery and secrets. This book transports you to the glamour and beauty of the Côte d’Azur, where we meet new and old characters who are all at turning points in their lives. Whereas Gabriel and his family has been running it for over two decades and wants to take it over however he is trying to figure out why it wasn’t left to his own family.

Gabriel Du Lac has carved out a very successful career for himself in the hotel business but his mother has never let him touch Hotel du Soleil. He had never understood why until the news arrives that the hotel has a new owner – and that his family had not owned it for years. This was Gabriel’s childhood home and will do everything he can to stop this stranger taking it away from his family. The novel’s characters contains the elegant and the rich. No no, it is not that superficial. They are smart as well just remember. In its hey day the hotel was THE place to be seen in Cannes, a mecca for the glitterati attending the film festivals and summering at the beach. Nowadays it is looking a little the worse for wear, shabby and unloved. The hotel had belonged to the Du Lac family for decades and its matriarch is a recluse still ensconced in the penthouse on the top floor. The Du Lac family has their secrets and Madame Du Lac is clinging onto them with her fingertips. I really enjoyed this book and thought it was even better than the first book. It is a romance book, that had 2 parallel storylines. The park boasts dramatic cliff sides punctuated by meandering sea "creeks" (calanques in French), as well as protected coves and beaches ideal for swimming, snorkeling, boating, and other activities. Numerous species of wild birds and fish thrive at the reserve, which became a national park in 2012. South of Sidmouth is Budleigh Salterton, whose sea wall is the setting of Sir John Milais’s’ famous painting ‘The Boyhood of Raleigh’ I'll admit that there is one reason and one reason only that I bought this book, because this is not really my genre: I had a huge crush on Carol Kirkwood as a teenager. When I was getting ready for school in the mornings, my mum would have the news on the television so she'd be presenting the weather, obviously. It was always particularly great if Carol was out and about somewhere and found a cute animal or something. She's so sweet and so pretty <3

Hotelier Gabriel du Lac's family have owned the hotel for decades - and he has no intention of giving it up for a beautiful stranger. I loved this book. It sweeps you away to the glamorous French riviera and is the perfect holiday read. There is an element of mystery, as Arianna tries to uncover the how the hotel ended up in her possession and the characters are brilliantly weaved in, so that you feel like you know them. I read this in one day as I did not want to put it down. The Hotel on the Riviera continues the story of the Theodosis family from Under a Greek Moon, although you don’t have to have read this first book to enjoy this book. For younger members of the family, organise a visit to see Father Christmas that they will remember forever. Every year the Dartmouth Steam Railway transforms itself into the magical Train of Lights. A Devon Winter WonderlandThis was a very romantic and refreshing read after such a looooong winter! Carol really paints you into the landscapes in this novel and if you let yourself you can be transported to Greece and the French Riviera. Immediately the plot is clear but the predictability didn’t make it less enticing! Once I was hooked on the leading lady Ariana and the protagonist Gabriel – I could not wait to see where they’d take us… and they did not disappoint! This is for those time travelling romantics – Readers who enjoy this book will surely enjoy Carol’s first book Under A Greek Moon. Mercury, NSW, 4 Stars Spend the afternoon wandering through the cobbled, narrow streets and alleyways of Antibe's Old Town, and admire views over the water from various points. Visit the celebrated Picasso Museum, whose collections are housed in the Grimaldi Castle, a former defensive fortress belonging to Monaco's royal family. The museum also includes additional works of modern and contemporary art. I enjoyed the dialogue between the characters which brought them alive as the story unfolded. Carol Kirkwood’s vivid descriptions of beautiful Cannes, the music festivals and events made you feel you were there. But there is a darker side underlying the glamour, which brings a hint of danger to the plot. Pampelonne Beach is the most iconic, with its some 3 miles of white sands, turquoise waters, glamorous private clubs and restaurants. This is the place to see and be seen, but conditions are often quite crowded, so you might prefer quieter beaches on the bay or closer to St-Tropez's town center.

A good summer beach read. If you're looking for a light read without too much depth then this is an ideal book. I enjoyed her debut Under A Greek Moon, although found the constant designer name dropping a little unnecessary. Sadly The Hotel on the Riviera follows this pattern, and, of course, everyone is good looking - except the villain! The plot felt a little thin and sometimes predictable - I knew straight away who Jonny's father must be - but everything tied in well at the end.. One of South Devon’s most popular attractions, Babbacombe Model Villageis transformed during the month of December into a stunning ‘Winter Wonderland’. Using highly realistic snow effects to cover the thousands of model buildings and miniature people, a white Christmas in Babbacombeis virtually guaranteed, if only for a very small part of it. Christmas shopping in DevonUnlike most novels with multiple narratives, this one is more difficult to follow. In one paragraph you are reading about the present of Ariana. The next you are reading about Gabriel’s deceased family. There are no breaks in the writing at all to let you know instead you have to use your mind and memory to recap this every few paragraphs which is VERY annoying. The hotel has a total of 99 soundproofed rooms, including Standard Double with balcony and Double King Size Exterior without balcony rooms. Guests staying here will find the rooms are equipped with a TV, direct dial telephone, mini fridge and a safety deposit box (local charge). Only Standard Double Rooms have a balcony. Double King Size Rooms are light and airy, with a window that overlooks the entrance to the hotel. The spacious bathroom also has a shower that features a hydro massage column. Food & Drink From Sunday Times bestselling author and the nation’s best loved TV presenter Carol Kirkwood comes a glittering escape to the French Riviera. The hotel has a generous swimming pool with a sun terrace and a gym to keep fit while you’re on holiday. Wi-Fi is also available throughout the hotel. In the nearby area you will find the famous Levante Beach, Mundomar wild life park; as well as a number of shops, restaurants, bars and clubs. That said, the ending was a little anti-climactic to me. Not terrible, but just a bit of a let-down. I think it makes sense given the genre, though - it's only right for things to wrap up nicely, isn't it?
