Alex and Conner spend the night at Froggy's home as his guests, having decided to begin their journey to collect the items the next day. Their mother tells them that it's true. Later on, Bob goes to see the twins and tells them about his plan to propose to their mother. He shows them the ring, which has two large diamonds on it, one pink and one blue to represent the twins. When Bob asks the twins for permission about the proposal, Conner and Alex decide that this would make both Bob and their mom happy, so they agree. Meanwhile, Alex Bailey is training tobecome the next Fairy Godmother…but her attempts at granting wishes nevergo as planned.Will she ever be truly readyto lead the Fairy Council? After a dramatic change of the situation, the twins and their friends find shelter in Queen Snow White's castle where they destroy the saber from the deepest sea as promised. An invitation from Cinderella to celebrate the birth of her child gives them the opportunity to return her glass slipper to her and the spindle to Sleeping Beauty. In the palace, they encounter the Fairy Godmother, who, they find out is in fact their grandmother. Furthermore she tells the twins that they have been following their own father's journal the whole time, and that they both have fairy blood in them, which is why the spell could be activated with the use of Alex's tear. They also hear from Sir Lampton that he helped them on their quest by putting the glass slipper in Alex's bag.

A little downcast, Alex and Conner took the long way to the Dwarf Forests upon themselves, continuing their quest in the mines. Soon they found the coffin and managed to pry a few of the jewels loose, leaving them with just one more item to collect. Spirits soaring high with their success, they didn't pay attention to their surroundings and found themselves in yet another life-threatening situation. The Book Huggers are a group of intelligent girls who are on to Alex and Conner. Their names are Mindy McClowsky, Cindy Strutherbergers, Lindy Lenkins and Wendy Takahashi. Originally, they ran the book club at their school. But after Alex and Conner's suspicious disappearance, they abandon it in favor of a conspiracy club. Everybody thinks they hit their heads, but they know what they see. They are eccentric. Wendy is selectively mute and is sometimes ignored a bit because of that. In the last book, they followed Conner and his friends. When the Book Huggers find them trapped in the library, they interrogate Conner until he admits what has been going on in the last few years and apologises, only then they set Conner and his friends free. In one of the last chapters, it is mentioned that they are the Sister Grimm's new recruits. A boat ride lead them to the Northern Kingdom, and through a hidden gate they swam past the guards and towards Queen Snow White's palace. As they looked for the jewels attached to the coffin, they found out who exactly their competition was when it came to collecting the items. Leaving the thought to the side for a moment, they once more approached the owner of the object – in this case Snow White – directly. Ezmia, The Enchantress was cursed by the witches to hate everyone and tried to destroy the world. This same curse was placed on Alex Bailey in the 5th book. Ezmia was once a small girl living in the Otherworld in misery following the death of her parents and the destruction of her village. She was to be killed by ruthless soldiers, but in an act of self-defence killed them instead. The Fairy Godmother, who had secretly watched this, took Ezmia under her wing as an apprentice. The Fairy Godmother even chose her as the next Fairy Godmother. Sadly, bitterness over men who failed her as well as what she claimed was the other fairies' jealousy caused her to renounce her title and turned to Dark Magic. She is defeated by Alex Bailey. It is later revealed, however, that it was the witches who cast a spell on her to turn to rage.

Later on, at Red and Froggy's wedding, Morina the beauty witch arrives and claims to be Froggy's first lover (and the one who cursed him to live as a frog). She threatens to curse Red if he doesn't leave with her, causing Froggy to choose to leave with her, as Morina is a powerful entity. Meanwhile, Conner gets beaten up by the Masked Man while getting the wedding rings for Red and Froggy in the library as the Masked man attempts to steal books. Conner rips off his mask, and he also believes the Masked Man is their father. That night, Alex wishes to speak with her late grandmother. Her grandmother then sends an "angel moth from outer space" of memories from the stars to tell Alex the true story of the Masked Man: he is their uncle Lloyd.
