Description

By the late 1980s there were four main monsters featured on the packaging, although originally a total of six featured in the advertising.

We all know the monster shaped crisp and they are still as popular as ever and now come in 3 classic flavours. Walkers pickled onion flavour crisps are suitable for vegans and vegetarians as they do not have any animal products in the ingredients. In this guide, I’ll show you how to tell which Walkers crisps are vegan-friendly and what animal ingredients you need to look out for.

In August 2008, Walkers announced that the brand would be relaunched again as "Mega Monster Munch" with a focus on nostalgia and an adult audience, following requests to revert the brand back to its previous state. However, vegans can eat Flamin’ Hot Wotsits and Prawn Cocktail Wotwits as these do not contain any animal ingredients. Walkers Oven Baked ready salted crisps contain some extra ingredients like starch, colour and emulsifier, yet they are still vegan-friendly as none of the ingredients come from animals. Including lunchtime classics Wotsits, Quavers, French Fries and Squares and snack-time heroes Monster Munch, Bugles, Mix Ups and Poppables, Walkers Snacks are jam-packed with flavour and fun.

The original shapes were replaced by one smaller shaped paw using a twin screw extruder instead of the single screw extruders used before. Regular Walkers salt and vinegar crisps are suitable for vegans as they do not contain any animal ingredients, but Walkers Oven Baked and Walkers MAX salt and vinegar crisps are both not suitable for vegans as they contain milk. Once journalists get their hands on them, those curt, day-to-day messages can be just a tad embarrassing — as this week’s expletive-laden evidence to the UK Covid Inquiry confirms. But, none of them is labelled as ‘suitable for vegans’, even if they do not contain any animal-derived ingredients. On the issue of whether the snacks are shaped like monster claws or individual monsters, Walkers said "whilst we think of them as monsters’ feet, we don't want that to stop people from coming up with their own imaginative ideas. In New Zealand, the major potato crisp brand Eta made a baked corn snack with the name Monster Munch and manufactured since the late 1980s. In addition, the programme suggested that 'Lily' is the name of the Pink Monster, as referred to by staff. People with severe allergies should be aware that all flavours of Walkers crisps are made in the same factory, so there is a risk of cross-contamination between crisps that have milk in the ingredients and those that don’t.

The other represented the gangly, long-tongued Pink Monster: circular with two bumps on the top for eyes, protrusions on either side and a tongue dangling down. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you always read the actual product label carefully before using or consuming any product. Even the meaty flavours like roast chicken and smoky bacon are vegetarian as they do not contain any meat. Potatoes, Sunflower Oil (25%), Rapeseed Oil, Marmite® Seasoning (Flavourings, Salt, Sugar, Rice Flour, Potato Starch, Acid (Citric Acid), Marmite® (Yeast Extract (contains Barley), Salt, Vegetable Juice Concentrate, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin, Vitamin B12, Folic acid, Natural Flavouring (contains Celery)).Potatoes, Vegetable Oils (Sunflower, Rapeseed, in varying proportions), Satisfying Salt and Malt Vinegar Seasoning ( Lactose (from Milk), Salt, Flavourings (contains BarleyMalt Vinegar), Sugar, Acid (Citric Acid), Potassium Chloride). Potatoes, Vegetable Oils (Sunflower, Rapeseed, in varying proportions), Prawn Cocktail Seasoning (Flavouring, Corn (Maize) Starch, Sugar, Salt, Dextrose, Potassium Chloride, Acid (Citric Acid), Dried Yeast, Dried Onion, Tomato Powder, Colour (Paprika Extract), Sweetener (Sucralose)). The flavour here builds and builds and makes you keep going back for more and more – a bit like Pringles they are just addictive. In August 2001, Walkers announced a special Halloween variant of the Pickled Onion flavour that could turn the consumer's tongue blue, and was promoted with The Beano and The Dandy comics and three ten-second spots that would air on Boomerang.
