Secrets have always been a dangerous thing and the longer she stays in the town, the more dangerous it becomes for Ellery. A leak is likely to bring the secrets to an end since many people cannot keep a secret.

Indeed, some of them were, so much so, that again, I don't like that YA authors resort to making the police force completely oblivious to the crimes - please, it would not hurt to bring some forth of realism to the stories. Just writing them off, as a work force that is not taking the crimes or deaths seriously, all the more annoyed. ☹️ And then, to have the ending, not even bring decent closure to all the characters - it leaves it all so wishy-washy, and even makes me believe that there may be a spin-off or sequel in the works, because it still left some story lines hanging! It was as if, it was written for the sole intent of making the bad guys completely unlikable and not even redeemable for their cause of actions.😩😩 Everyone is flawed. We see them transform from one-dimensional characters to teens with more developed personalities as they try to deal with everything. Bronwyn and Nate's chapter were my favorites, although I have to admit how much Addy grew on me. Cooper's were fun. Most important of all, they're real.

At Bayview high walk, five students walk into detention on a Monday afternoon. Their characters and lives are different where Addy is a beauty and also a homecoming princess, Nate is on probation for dealing drugs.

One of them killed Simon the pieman who has a gossip app.....oh boy...and he exposes all these bitches for little despicable acts cuz he is an outcast. Throw in a school slut, a talk show host, a cougar mom, a bipolar mom, an alcoholic dad, a goth girl, a chinese crossdresser and what you have is a very dull circus side show...dull and I mean dull....did I say dull ! Yes DULL ! No I am not lying ! The characters in this book were really well-done - each one was completely distinct and truly memorable. And outsider Simon, creator of the notorious gossip app at Bayview High, won't ever talk about any of them again.

Beyond all of that... honestly, the writing is just not that good, and the "twist" is so predictable it hurts. Let’s start with the pluses though, shall we? Starting more or less where One of Us Is Next left off, the character development was truly divine. After all, we got to watch these teens grow up, learning unbearably hard lessons along the way. Through a handful of POVs, the gaps from the first two books were filled in and one altogether deep, dark secret was laid bare. But it was those characters that truly had me from hello. Complex and mostly true-to-life, I connected with one and all. To be honest, I don’t even have a clue what it is about. I only know there’s supposed to be a murder and some sort of “Breakfast Club”? XD As the story gets old, the title keeps the reader guessing as the characters are developed with additions of suspense while trust dwindles as the real picture of each is painted. The mystery is filled with suspense creating an urge in the reader to read on and solve them making it a perfect thriller beautiful story with great characterization. Addy's POV is very shallow and portrays a terrible relationship and girl drama. (But she has a good growth arc.)This is a review I’ve been struggling to write for a few days now and I hope I’ve done it justice. There just aren’t words to describe how completely readable this book really is. McManus did such a fabulous job of making me just as interested in the individual secrets and side stories of the “Murder Club” as I was in the central mystery surrounding Simon’s death. The author had me convinced that this couldn’t possibly be her debut novel, and if this is what she has published first, I can only imagine the treats we will receive in written form from her down the road. I’m a committed fan now and I can’t wait to see what she publishes next. Highly recommended to teens, sure, but I think loads of adults are going to enjoy this one as well. There’s something really special and unique to this story that defies the boundaries of age gaps and will have me remembering it for months to come. Even though I figured out the twist I still think the above reasons is what made this book so good. But we all know what Bayview’s real game is, right?” she continues. “Revenge. Except they keep doing it wrong. Even though the mystery wasn't hard to figure out, it was still fun. I'm sure it's because we're seeing the bigger picture, everyone had a piece of the truth. Yet, you can't help but feel skeptical, I shouldn't like this character, he looks innocent but what if ?

Actually, there were many opportunities to go down the typical YA-route, but thankfully that didn't happen. I was very (pleasantly) surprised at that! But nothing has settled for the residents of Bayview. Not now someone has started playing a sinister game of Truth or Dare. If you liked Warcross better than Ready Player One. If you’re more interested in Pretty Little Liars and Riverdale than Mindhunter or Making a Murderer. It’s fine if you are! They’re just two totally different things. Add in the fact that this cast is similar to the stereotypical cast of characters found in The Breakfast Club, one of the best movies EVER created, and you have an equation for a near perfect book for Megs! Brown is a brain bound for Yale and is never seen with any account of breaking the rules. Simon is considered an outcast and the creator of a renowned gossip app at their school while cooper is an athlete and an all-star baseball pitcher. It is only Simon that never walks out of detention, and a more in-depth look into his death seems to raise significant questions classifying his death as a murder. As the story moved forward, I started warming up towards Addy and Cooper, respectively, with each chapter something about their lives being unravelled.
