After proving to be exceptionally popular it was rolled out across the UK and became a firm favourite among chocolate fans. I let this settle before melting my last batch of choc (and burning myself a little 🙁 ) to form the top/bottom of the bar. This was originally launched in 1970, Old Jamaica bars had a mix of milk and plain chocolate with rum flavoured raisins - though I don't think you could get drunk on them, although at the time I might have tried.

Often a favourite for swimming bath vending machines, Cadbury's Bar Six was a creamy chocolate bar with a wafer centre and hazelnut cream, they were very similar to a Chunky Kit-Kat. The sickly sweet bar combined chocolate, toffee and nougat for people to sink their teeth into (and have difficulty chewing afterwards). Cadbury's Spira chocolate bar was a bit like a Twirl but a lot more tasty (well I thought so anyway). But as chocolate fans get used to the latest changes what other sweet treats have we loved and then lost over the years?

Please tick if you would like to receive news, offers and information from our trusted and carefully selected partners that we think you might like. My favourite bar was always the Cabana, lovely soft and sweet coconut with cherries mixed in surrounded by milk-chocolate – but they were discontinued in the nineties. When Cadbury decided to marry their white 'Dream' chocolate and standard Flake bar, they blew every other chocolate bar out of the water. As its chocolate-brown wrapping suggested, the Rumba was the kind of chocolate bar that could only ever have existed in the 1970s.It was discontinued in 2005, with its closest replacement available today thought to be the Cadbury Twirl. But, like the empire it was named after, its power eventually crumbled and it was taken off the shelves for good in 1978.
