The 1500 is more expensive than the 1000, but it is a premium worth paying for the longer term benefits it provides. Pro 1000 vs Pro 1500

There is a great deal to like about the iO and this is without a doubt a step up for Oral-B. But, the downside is the price. It costs quite a bit more than the Genius X and does not deliver significant benefits that would be justifiable to most for the price. Conclusion Even if you use the brush without the app, the handle will store key data and sync this with the app next time, making it available for review in the future. Overall, if you have a dental care problem, the app could help you to focus on fixing it but I’m sceptical as to whether the average person will continue to use the brushing coaching for long. Price and availability There are fewer gloss plastics and large expanses of rubber grips, with a much more exclusive looking design. stars (1 for each quadrant) and a smiley face confirm you have brushed for the right amount of time. You will see that the more feature-rich, and typically more expensive models are shown on the right, compared to the more cost effective models on the left. Jon is a leading voice on electric toothbrushes and has been quoted by mainstream media publications for his opinions and expertise. A yellow light will be lit inside the mode button on the handle and a notification will appear within the app when a replacement is due. It is a visual stimulus when you get distracted and in turn, acts as encouragement to brush better and for longer to get the star rating and smiley face at the end of each brushing session. The iO5 comes in a box that is perhaps a little bigger than it needs to be. But, it’s not terribly oversized. It’s easily recycled and in many instances, you are not getting lots of unnecessary extras included.

We would love to see Oral-B brushes charge via USB – especially as the long charging time is possibly the biggest issue we have with the iO5. It needs around 12 hours to charge fully. The Series 7 and above have magnetic fast charging in three hours, and this is one feature that might make you decide to opt for a pricier model. Performance While Oral-B has partnered with schemes such as TerraCycle, it does not yet have its own recycling scheme for used brush heads or faulty products. Perfecting your brushing routine, including the brushing time, technique and frequency will bring more positive benefit than any particular toothbrush. Brushing for the recommended minimum of 2 minutes twice a day achieves maximum plaque removal. Yet many people brush for as little as 45-70 seconds per day. There is potentially more e-waste generated as a result of the Bluetooth connectivity, but it’s not as bad as the handles in the range that have displays built in.There are two different kinds of motion in most modern electric toothbrushes; sonic and oscillating. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the icons are not all that logical with multiple icons lit for specific modes. The Oral-B app also offers a selection of programs to help you achieve specific goals if you have a concern such as bad breath (Image credit: Future) Ultimately, all of the brushes will provide a very good clean to the teeth and gums if used correctly. FOR HEALTHIER GUMS IN JUST 1 WEEK remove 100% more plaque and even 2.5X in between teeth* with ORAL-B's MOST ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY *vs a manual brush. It also offers a real-time coaching mode, and it’s this feature that the cheaper iO Series 4 doesn’t have. Open the app as you brush and it’ll show when you’ve finished cleaning a section of your mouth (to the app’s satisfaction, at least) and where you’re pressing too hard. And in case you were wondering, more premium iO models are not going to deliver any better cleaning results, the motor is configured in just the same way.The iO Series 6 has Oral-B's latest motor, which is extremely quiet and allows the brush to glide smoothly across your teeth. The handle has a smooth finish and, although not the lightest around, is evenly weighted and comfortable in the hand.

A new magnetic charger means the brush can be recharged in as little as 3 hours, rather than the more typical 12. More frequent brushers, or those who brush for longer can expect to get an alert sooner than the normal 90 days.Bluetooth is enabled on your toothbrush by default. You may enable/ disable Bluetooth at any time by pressing the on/off button for 5 sec. Activation of Bluetooth is indicated via the light ring by a blue fade-in illumination. Deactivation is indicated by a blue fade-out illumination. Reply While Oral-B has partnered with schemes such as TerraCycle in some countries, it does not yet have its own recycling scheme for used brush heads or faulty products. The big difference here is that there is no LED display built into the handle like there is with premium models such as the iO6, 7 8, 9 and 10. In truth the displays have limited benefit, albeit they look impressive, so no great loss here.
