Here are the solutions I have tried (when technically feasible) on a TCL 4K 65" TV, a Samsung 40" 1080p TV and a Samsung CRG9 monitor. Remove the game disk from your Playstation 2 then select SYSTEM CONFIGURATION > COMPONENT VIDEO OUT > Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr and not RGB. The existing 2X-Pro is still our flagship product while the 2X-M is an addition to our line up to fill the specific 480p gap. Hi just been following this thread, i am currentley using a ps2 component cable with my Samsung Lcd and like you have said a lot of jaggies on the screen. Does a Svideo lead really make that much difference. I have recently got my hands on a fat PS2 (SCPH-30004) meant to be thrown away which I repaired and it works just fine, and it's the only actual PS2 I own right now. Just one thing, I get no audio out from the Analog port. I have it connected to a LED TV via an already owned component cable (YPbPr) which I have successfully tested with 2 or 3 other -slim- PS2s. So, if it's not the TV or the cable it must be the console, right? I can still have audio out through the optical out into my Z-5500 speakers, no problem, but not through the red-white stereo cables, while video signal (red-green-blue plugs) is just fine. Could it be a burnt on board circuit fault? How would I go about testing/repairing for the sake of completeness?

However if you want any progressive output from your PS2, component is the only real way to go. RGB(i.e VGA) is possible but somewhat problematic - official cables are hard to find, unofficial solutions are... well... *unofficial* (and so support might be patchy, not all games work, etc.) Although the enclosures are similar, the 2X-M is based on a completely different chipset. It is not possible to add 480p pass-thru capability to the existing devices. Otherwise, we would have just released the new firmware and called it a day! There are a few ways to use RGsB and there’s a chance you already have equipment that supports it!:

In my testing, there isn’t a “best” model PS2 to use, as all seem to output the same quality video and audio. There’s talk that some models are more reliable than others, but overall there’s only a few models to outright avoid, all “slim” models: Some PlayStation 2 games – most notably “classic” software collections – will run in 240p, giving it the look of older consoles. Some people have complied a list of those games, just for reference : In most cases, PS1 discs can be run on a PS2 and perform identically. I’ll list the few shortcomings below, but for the most part, it’s exactly like playing the games on a PS1. These cables are widely used and available in the market. But what do they do exactly? All you know is if you hook them up, you can play your VCR, CDs, and DVDs on your TV. How does that happen? Well, all that you will find out in this article. Once again, this isn’t recommended unless you absolutely need it…but here’s more information: http://www.dansprojects.com/ps2sync.html

This adapter converts the male 9-pin mini-DIN connector on the Genesis YPbPr cable to a male Saturn 10-pin mini-DIN connector.  Made with optimal-fitting RCA connectors without a death-grip and which also don't slip out too easily When I played my ps2 with the av cable on the new tv it looked ok but when I changed to the component cable after changing the settings in the ps2 to Y Cb / Pb Cr / Pr I thought the picture was worse. Especially on letting on the screen. Some letting is really jagged with the component cable but with the av cable the lettering seemed sharp and more rounded. Some PS1 games have glitches when played on a PS2. Also, the later model PS2 Slim’s listed above replaced some of the PS1-compatible hardware with software emulation and should be avoided for PS1 use. Here’s a list of games with compatibility issues : http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_games_incompatible_with_PlayStation_2 PlayStation 2 consoles output both Component Video (YPbPr) and RGB. Both are equal in quality, but component video is easier to use in all resolutions with the PS2. More info below:
