This is sweet almond oil. This is a nut-derived ingredient. The manufacturers state that any almond proteins that cause allergy should be removed during the refining process. These 7 ingredients may also irritate your skin, everyone’s skin is different. Different skin types have different reactions to products, especially when skin has new Tattoos. One male reviewer even mentioned that he used this in place of a beard oil after suffering from irritated skin and it worked wonders! In that case, it’s best to use an alternative aftercare product to Bepanthen Prunus amygdalus dulcis oil Glyceryl Oleate is a naturally derived emulsifying agent found in plant-based oils and fats, providing an effective means to mix water with oil.

However, there are environmental concerns around Ozokerite due to its origin in the petrochemical industry. Bepanthen contains petroleum, which provides the skin with a protective barrier. However, this also stops the skin from breathing which can significantly slow down the healing process and cause scabs to become mushy, which makes them easy to catch and pull off. It’s a form of petroleum jelly. Its melting point so close to body temperature has led it to become one of the most widely used skin protectants in the world today! It also depends on the individual; how they naturally heal and how they’ve looked after the tattoo in those early stages. When can I stop tattoo aftercare? While new tattoos (hopefully!) look great, because a needle is used to insert ink beneath your skin, having one done is technically also a medical procedure. Similar to an open wound, tattoos require careful aftercare to avoid scarring and infection, so always wash your hands before caring for your unhealed tattoo. Don’t expose to the sun: While your tattoo is healing, stay out of the sun or wear clothes that protect it. Sun exposure on traumatised skin can affect how it heals and lead to fading. "After it has healed (which can take up to 6 weeks depending on the type and size of tattoo), regular sun cream should be fine," says Hayes. “If you want to keep the colour vibrant, use a high SPF.” We sell a wide range of tattoo and piercing lotions, balms and creams that ensures optimum results and a high level of aftercare from the start. It is vital that your new art work or piercing receives quality care from the beginning and proper aftercare is crucial to the successful healing of your new addition. Because Bepanthen comes in a tube this reduces the risk of the ointment being contaminatedand spreading an infection to the tattoo. Aftercare is so important and I always tell my customers to stay in touch and let me know how they are healing and if they have any questions/worries to just message me day or night, as everyone is different and we can all react to things in different ways.

Radha MH, et al. Evaluation of biological properties and clinical effectiveness of Aloe vera: A systematic review. Journal of Traditional and Complementary Medicine. Published 2014 December 23. Don’t worry. The area you’ve had tattooed will swell up and get sore and warm initially – for the first 24-48 hours – but it’s just your body’s way of healing. If any swelling and soreness persists, get in touch with your tattooist and let them know what’s going on. They will advise of what you should do. Both products also contain mild bleaching agents – lanolin in Sudocrem and Chlorhexidine Gluconate in Savlon.

I have recommended Bepanthento my clients as an aftercare product for many years, before switching to using Saniderm more recently. Due to its special formula, this aftercare ointment forms a protective layer on the skin. The layer is transparent and does not close off the skin, allowing it to breathe. A research study looked at Dexpanthenol use specifically for tattooed skin and found it safe and well tolerated. However, it’s important to note this was not on freshly tattooed skin. Lanolin Cetyl and Stearyl Alcohol - Alcohol in an aftercare product for your tattoo should be avoided. It’s added to a product’s ingredient list as a way to keep water-based ingredients well mixed with oil-based ingredients. It’s known as non-drying and non-irritating but based on the quantity in Bepanthen, it could cause redness or irritation. However, it doesn’t often cause skin allergies or issues with people and is widely viewed as safe for skin. Glyceryl Oleate

Every artist/shop will tell you something completely different about aftercare. As you get more tattoos you will understand your body more and how it heals, so you can try different ways and find out your preferred method. The way I tell customers to heal tattoos is the way I heal mine. But the Tattoo version tends to be more expensive so you can save money by just using the original tried and tested Nappy Rash Version. The formula with Pro-vitamin B5 creates a waterproof and breathable protective layer that provides the moisture level needed to help the skin to regenerate from within and to stabilise the natural skin barrier function.Bepanthen is the preferred choice by tattoo artists due to its active ingredients, which aid healing and prevent infection. Bepanthen also contains Paraffinum Liquidum, more commonly known as mineral oil. Mineral oil is also a petroleum by-product and is basically a liquid form of petroleum jelly. It is popular in cosmetics because of its wide availability and very low cost. Aside from cosmetic products, it is also used as a preservative, coolant, lubricant, and thermal fluid. Although it has many advantages, mineral oil or Paraffinum Liquidum has also been found to increase the risk of cancer in rats that are irradiated twice a week for 20 weeks.

Bepanthen can also be used to protect wounds from infection and promote the healing of cuts and scrapes. One of the most widely used products for tattoo aftercare is Bepanthen Ointment, even though its primarily used on babies to protect from and heal nappy rash. The qualities of Bepanthen also make it a very effective tattoo aftercare, if used correctly! Easy to apply, Bepanthen forms a breathable barrier over the wound preventing germs from getting in whilst also trapping the skins natural moisture, thus aiding in skin repair and regeneration. Its properties make it a gentle skin cream with no harmful substances, hence why it’s ideal for baby skin. In general, there are a lot of different recommendations out there so here we’ve summarised the best aftercare tips for tattoo healing…This can clog your pores and break you out in a rash and cause further inflammation to your skin which is definitely something you don’t want when you have a new tattoo. On the fourth day, wash it like normal, let it air dry and from that day stop wrapping it in cling film and stop using Bepanthen. Now start moisturising it. I use E45 moisturising lotion. It works for all different skin types. Apply it 4/5 times a day whenever you feel it getting dry. Think clean.Make sure you’re washing your tattoo at least twice a day and you should only be touching your tattoo with clean fingers. If you work in a dirty or active job, you might want to take some time off, or if you have to wear a grubby uniform. Second skin products like Dermalize and Tattoomed, as mentioned above, are a good idea if these situations can’t be avoided.
