You put these two together for worst week ever for both of them and hilarity is bound to happen. Add in bomb threats, cops, crazy employees, weird servants, and an attraction. You never know what is going to happen. Trent is pretentious and full of himself. He’s an uncaring playboy who finds out that he can’t run his company without Carrie. But when he begins to finally see her as who she is, he falls for her. Can he become the man for her?

Trent and Carrie are amazing together. Trent thinks that he is above everyone because he is rich and dresses well. He constantly criticizes everyone around him. He thinks he should always get what he wants when he wants. He achieves this by yelling and threatening to fire everyone.

And just to tease you a tiny bit without giving anything away, here’s a snippet of humor from the book: Carrie is a likeable character who puts up with a lot because she sees the best in everyone. She’s kind, caring and unpretentious. Her sweet nature draws others to want to help her or fall for her. We were told too often about how everyone fell in love with Carrie - this woman had been working for Trent for 2 yrs, and suddenly she's the woman of everyone's dream? I also didn't need to be told three different times what her height and weight were. The male protag is the quintessential 'billionaire' from family money, complete with servants, a penthouse and a Long Island Estate. He has some anger issues, but he's written in a way that makes his outlandish toddler-resembling behaviour endearing. He also has a big heart underneath all the rough edges. The female protag is about the only one who can see that heart. She just has to get through the worst and craziest week of her life to get to it. This is not just a downright funny and entertaining and well-written story about everything possible going wrong in one week, but also an insightful study on how life works. You’ll find lots of criticism between the lines, about the rich and powerful, about the law, about the job world, about love and about society. And all that in a way that alternately makes you laugh and want to cry, that stirs up your anger and leaves you glowing with satisfaction and smithereens of hope. Carrie is full of hidden strength and kindness and intelligence, something I miss dearly in some heroines of (romance) novels.I found the characters were drawn to achieve the effects Ms O’Connor wanted; for me, they all worked, though I would have been happier if Miss Coco hadn’t been quite so much of a… However, I expect to have to deal with her through the remainder of the series, so she’s doing what is necessary, too. This book was nothing like I expected. I laughed the whole way through this book. Liza O'Connor has written an amazing book with this one. This is not your typical rich boss falls in love with his employee. There is a little bit of everything in this book, but instead of the intense drama you get a muted version filled with humor. Once I started reading this book I could not put it down and I am sure everyone around me thought I was crazy since I couldn't stop laughing. Ms. O’Connor writes a hilarious tale of misadventures that seem outrageous yet are real-life. She pulls readers into Carrie’s life and has them cheering for Trent to change. As the first book in the series, A Long Road to Love, I’m dying to see what happens next! The book offers a HFN ending and I am looking forward to continuing the stories of all the characters that Liza has brought to life for this series.
