The penultimate story `Nightfall' by Peter Fehervari is the story of a Night Lords recruitment mission to a corrupted world. This is a very good story and comes a close second to `Headhunted' in my personal opinion. I do like that the main character is one of the potential recruits and the conflict within the Night Lords force is also nicely done. One ancient source claims that even before the Unification Wars had ended, the Thunder Warriors, already jealous of their replacements' long lives, at last realised that their creator had cursed them with short lifespans as a result of their imperfect genetic augmentations. In their rage and fear, they turned upon Him for what they saw as His betrayal. This list is all about making the most of the Firestorm Assault Force’s excellent stratagems, and the big boon of the assault special rule while also mitigating the change to Oaths of Moment as much as possible. Flamestorm Aggressors and Inceptors come in hot (GET IT?) with twin-linked slapped onto their weapons, Eradicators gain full rerolls into their most important targets, the Lieutenant gives wound rerolls around particular objectives and Vulkan makes sure his Infernus bodyguard, the Redeemer and the Vanguard Vets all get their own pseudo Oaths every turn.

Captains and Chapter Masters are often accompanied by some of the finest heroes of their chapter as a personal bodyguard. The squad’s Ancient carries a fluttering company banner to inspire his comrades and boost their Objective Control, while the Company Champion duels enemy leaders before they can even think of getting near the Captain. The Veterans meanwhile lay down a hail of bolt fire. This kit also includes a versatile Captain with multiple options. Terminator Squad This isn't a bad collection, but not really what I expected. There are some stories about loyalist marines slicing their way through hordes of xenos and so on, but quite a few stories are about Chaos marines, initiates etc. The stories are: Allerdings: wirklich „schlecht“ fand ich auch keine Geschichte, HEROES OF THE SPACE MARINES ist qualitativ also definitiv in Ordnung. He is the product of intensive training and genetic manipulation, which transforms mortal men selected from the deadliest warrior races in the known galaxy into the most lethal of superhuman killing machines in Mankind's arsenal. This is an attitude sometimes taken by whole Chapters. They see normal Humans as frail, weak creatures given to the follies of temptation, avarice, greed, lust and cowardice -- all emotions they rarely feel, if ever. The leader of Strike Force Agastus gets a standalone release, ready to join your Space Marine squads and grant the powerful Lethal Hits ability to all of their weapons. This intensely customisable kit can be equipped in many different ways, from the classic power fist and plasma pistol combo to power swords, bolt rifles, or the dreaded pointing finger. Brutalis Dreadnought The best place for a gigantic walking death machine is right in the middle of the enemy, and the Brutalis Dreadnought is equipped to take full advantage of the sheer everything-shredding power of its mighty fists and talons. Gone are the heavy guns of the Redemptor or the missiles of the Ballistus – this dreadnought is squarely in the business of tearing things apart in close combat, and business is booming . Desolation Squad Space Marines are the undisputed poster boys of Warhammer 40,000. They’re the mightiest warriors Humanity can offer, further augmented by ancient gene-science to forge perfect soldiers clad in formidable armour. The result is the Space Marine Chapters – each an elite cadre of the toughest, fastest, and most ruthless warriors the galaxy has ever seen. As time went on, the Space Marine regiments became Legions as the Emperor recruited young men from amongst the newly conquered tribes of Old Earth and the hundreds of Astartes in service to the Imperium swiftly became tens of thousands.

Four stars! Not all is as it seems in this tale. Well written and wonderful fighting scenes throughout. A terrific debut for the author. **** Four stars! This story reminded me of the classic book "Lord of the Flies". Very well done. Another great debut. **** They should feel so, for many Space Marines feel little compassion for those they have sometimes termed "mortals" in comparison to themselves, seeing the very people they were created to protect as little more than obstacles to a more efficient eradication of the Imperium's enemies. Five stars! This one kept me guessing, unable to figure out Argo's true mission or what its accomplishment may foretell. I will only say that I hope to read more of Zefaray in the future. ***** The Company Heroes represents a modern take on the old Command Squad. Made up of one Ancient (which gives the unit +1 OC while present), one Company Champion, and two Company Veterans, it’s an honour guard for a Captain or Chapter Master. The unit’s Company Heroes rule makes it such that they must start the battle attached to a Captain or Chapter Master. They do then benefit from the Command Squad rule which subtracts 1 from all Wound rolls while they are being led by a character model.

A Pre-Heresy VII Legion Tactical Squad Marine in Unification Wars-era livery, wearing an early variant of Mark II Crusade Pattern Power Armour; the eagle and lightning flash device called the Raptor Imperialis on the left shoulder pauldron makes it likely the warrior was a veteran of the very first wave of Imperial Compliance actions fought beyond the Sol System; of particular note is the use of yellow heraldry on several segments of the Legionary's armour; limited to the right arm and shoulder, this dates the Legionary's original induction to just after the Fall of Roma. Potential Space Marines are usually, but not always, recruited from the worlds where a Chapter has established its fortress-monastery, although some Chapters are known to recruit from a collection of different worlds in an area of space that they protect or frequent. Few of the Sons of Malice are brave enough to take the Challenge of the Labyrinth. Those who do and survive are elevated to the Doomed Ones, Malice's sept of holy warriors.
