Comparing it with the original Eau de Toilette(EDT) version, it has some similarities, but it has more differences. For example, both are fresh aquatic-style fragrances, but with different nuances, while the EDT is citrusy, metallic and musky, the EDP is citrusy, floral, woody and sweeter. This new version of Chrome is a good addition, as it modernizes the classic version, bringing it closer to current versions of blue fragrances. Today, I gave it another try, since I bought it and unfortunately, my opinion hasn't changed. One thing I can say about it is, that this fragrance, namely Chrome Extreme is one that I don't like. I used to have all of the Bvlgari Aquas and I can recommend all of them, besides Aqua Amara maybe. Where I live, summers are very hot and humid, so in my environment Aqua Marine works best. I actually really miss it and believe this is a much better option. I had a chance to smell John Varvatos "Artisan Pure" once, and was really impressed about it, so maybe a John Varvatos fragrance could be a good idea. I was also considering a Tommy Bahamas, but have never smelled one of his.

When first applied, that zesty, juicy mandarin and almost a hint top note of mint come thru. Beautiful and stunning. Then after a few more minutes, the saltiness & the sweet water notes and the amber eventually come thru. It retains this saltiness & the sweet water notes and amber throughout the rest of its journey, along with a musky, powdery nuance.I only have 2 other Azzaro juices. The OG Chrome & United. Extreme has a similarity to the original in it's freshness and nothing in common with United as that's a more sweet woods and Tonka based elixer. Azzaro managed to take Extreme and put a subtle but, unique twist with the green citrus & marine note on top and the mids yet managed to make the woods & amber work very well and nicely balanced throughout the compositions life. Not groundbreaking and yes, there is a bit of the ambroxan in there but, it's not as prominent or in your face as others. In my teenage years I used to wear Axe Phoenix, and this one kind of reminds me of that scent, but a very high quality Axe Phoenix. Don't get me wrong, it's not a synthetic smelling Axe like fragrance; it is a great quality smelling perfume. I get zero Polo blue vibes, I own Blue EDP, Deep Blue Parfum and love those, and don’t get that comparison (I’ve smelled all the other flankers and same). I also don’t get any Acqua Di Gio Profundo. And, I also think this should be its own line, it’s not Chrome at all in my opinion, and I actually really like the Original, but love this one. Upon first wear it did really well for me in terms of chemistry between my skin/sweat and the aroma chemicals.

And they apologized for what happened, told me to keep the bottle plus all what I paid , they gave it to me in my store credit In the end does it smell good? Absolutely. Does it have the ooomph that the name implies? Definitely. It seems that the perfumer(s) of Chrome Extreme didn't dedicate a lot of space in the formula to unnecessary fixatives, opting instead for a higher concentration of high-impact top and middle notes (n.b. Chrome Extreme is of EDP concentration). This is apparent in the fragrance's impressive projection in the initial ~1.5 hrs. Longevity on the other hand is decent on me (~6-7 hrs; improves when applied on clothing), with the last few hours spent close to the skin. The note breakdown pretty much explains the whole experience of this fragrance. I don’t detect any particular notes other than the ones written down. Azzaro Extreme is really good for what it is, at this price point it might be even better than Profondo. This thing lasts 12 plus hours on clothes and projects like crazy when its very hot from skin. It has got the sillage too. But that projection lasts sadly for only 2 hours on skin before turning into a skin scent. TLDR one of the best cheap aquatic fragrances in term of performance and scent quality for the price. Good first buy!

Performance: Sillage/Projection is good for the first hour, after that it becomes more of a skin scent.

Drydown: It smells very creamy, soapy, slightly aquatic, and tiny bit spicy. It is a very simple scent and the florals and bright opening that are smelled on the tester strip are lost on skin. The mandarin orange sweetness from chrome extreme is also found here. Update: When indoors where it’s cool, the scent gets much spicier, Looks like it shines indoors. I would wear a suit and eat nice dinner wearing this. I wish it were more in-line with that musky aluminum/metallic/dare-I-say CHROME smell of the original. This is a very deep, rich, woody aquatic. I appreciate the pine note a lot. It's not quite "pine" in the Polo Green tradition, but it's a fresh, wet pine.

For sure it is not "extreme" in any sense. 🙄 It is decent office smell that all will like. If you are into fragrances and you are proud of your collection you can pass that one but if you are looking for wholesome one-do-all-occasions bottle - give it a try. That’s what makes me sad about this perfume not because of the perfume , because the bad experienceIt starts relatively synthetic with citrus from the green mandarin, which i related to the smell to an unripened mandarin, and slowly mellows out of that sharp synthetic associated with the typical generic freshie. It transitioned from zingy aromatic into this smooth and slightly resinous marine scent which smells quite sophisticated. The juniper retains its sweetness while the cashmere really softens out the edges and the amber gives it a resinous quality while maintaining its sea notes from the top to the drydown.
