Paracetamol probably produces antipyresis by acting on the hypothalamic heat- regulating centre to produce peripheral vasodilation resulting in increased blood flow through the skin, sweating and heat loss. The central action probably involves inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis in the hypothalamus. Don't take Beechams all in one if you have taken a type of medicine called a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) in the last 14 days. MAOIs include the antidepressants phenelzine, tranylcypromine, isocarboxazid and moclobemide, and the anti-Parkinson's medicines selegiline, safinamide and rasagiline. This is because the combination of phenylephrine with these medicines could cause a dangerous increase in blood pressure (hypertensive crisis).

Plasma-protein binding is negligible at usual therapeutic concentrations but increases with increasing concentrations. Dosage: Liquid: Adults and children 16 years and over: One 20 ml measured dose. Repeat every four hours as necessary. Do not exceed four doses per 24 hours. Do not take continuously for more than 5 days without medical advice. Not to be given to children under 16 years except on medical advice. Tablets: Adults and children 12 years and over: Two tablets. Repeat every four hours as necessary. Do not take more than 8 tablets in 24 hours. Not to be given to children under 12 years except on medical advice. Signs of liver problems like dark urine, feeling tired, not hungry, upset stomach or stomach pain, light-colored stools, throwing up, or You should use either the tablets OR the liquid. Don't use both together. • Beechams all in one tablets

This medicinal product contains 31 mg of sodium per dose. To be taken into consideration by patients on a controlled sodium diet.

Adverse reactions identified during post-marketing use are listed below. The frequency of these reactions is unknown but likely to be rare. Contains paracetamol. Do not take anything else containing paracetamol while taking this medicine. Do not take with other flu, cold or decongestant products. Do not take more medicine than the label tells you to. If you do not get better, talk to your doctor. Talk to a doctor at once if you take too much of this medicine, even if you feel well. Guaifenesin is a type of medicine called a cough expectorant. Expectorants are used to treat a productive, chesty or mucus cough, where you cough up phlegm. Guaifenesin helps to thin and loosen the mucus in the airways, making it easier to cough up. This product should not be used by patients taking other sympathomimetics (such as decongestants, appetite suppressants and amphetamine-like psychostimulants)

If you are taking medication or are under medical care, consult your doctor before using this medicine. Each 20ml liquid contains 500mg paracetamol, 200mg guaifenesin and 10mg phenylephrine. Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over should take one 20ml measured dose (or four 5ml spoonfuls) every four hours as necessary. Do not take more than four doses in 24 hours. Allergic reactions which may be severe such as skin rash and itching sometimes with swelling of the mouth or face or shortness of breath. ParacetamolLiver damage is possible in adults who have taken 10g or more of paracetamol. Ingestion of 5g or more of paracetamol may lead to liver damage if the patient has risk factors (see below). Dysuria, urinary retention. This is most likely to occur in those with bladder outlet obstruction, such as prostatic hypertrophy.
