Description

They have fewer options for weapons, and the sheet is set up a little bit differently; either way, it’s nothing too crazy different. At the end of the day, this means that there’s effectively no list-building that goes into a game of Combat Patrol, and very limited customization: you have a single enhancement for your Warlord that you can swap out for one other if you’d prefer, and some larger units come with the “Patrol Squads” rule, letting them deploy either as their full complement or split up into smaller units to help play the board better. As one example, the Space Wolves Combat Patrol comes with 10 Incursors, but you can instead choose to deploy them as two squads of 5 each. You’ve seen the Armouring of a Space Marine ritual where an iconic piece of Warhammer lore was portrayed as it’s never been seen before. Now, you can learn more about the armour of Warhammer’s most recognisable warriors in this week’s new episode of Loremasters . It breaks down the development of Space Marine Power Armour* from the earliest ‘Thunder Armour’ through the Mark III and Mark IV suits, right up to the Mark X worn by Primaris Space Marines. The Warhammer Vault meanwhile adds the entirety of Flyers of the Dark Millennium to its ever-growing library. This Week on Warhammer-Community.com

This doesn’t have the highest value we’ve seen, but pretty close to a lot of the boxes and still decent for the price. If you need the models inside, it saves you a decent amount of cash and will get you a lot of minis fairly cheaply. Thousand Sons Combat Patrol: Ah, the Blood Angels– noble and civilised sons of Sanguinius, most handsome, tragic, star-crossed and pretty of all the Emperor’s ‘Primarch’ sons. These renaissance Italy-themed space marines are among the most storied and popular chapters of the Adeptus Astartes. As I mentioned earlier I would probably look to be including more Incursors in the larger builds of this list alongside some of the other more well known Blood Angel units for flavour such as Mephiston and Death Company. New to playing Tyranids and worried that your prized Tyranid Prime might be a little fragile? Psychostatic Veil gives the Terror of Vardenghast a 4+ invulnerable save, and makes it harder to target at range or hit in melee. After you’ve got some games under your belt, you can try turning it into a nimble buff piece with the Secretion Goad Enhancement, offering increased Armour Penetration to other units – perhaps your Termagant swarm . Glorious, venomous revenge!

New Datasheets

Here is the full line of Warhammer 40k Combat Patrol boxes, along with the units that have increased in value for 2023. Updated Warhammer 40k Combat Patrol boxes Pricing & Values Now moving to more exclusively Daemon models, this new combat patrol is a great start for any fans of Khorne’s Daemonic forces. However, this one may not be for you if you’re not collecting skulls in your Daemon army.

Space Marines are the finest soldiers available to the Imperium, enhanced beyond human limits by arcane science and honed to a razor’s edge over centuries of combat experience. They are giants of flesh and metal, standing taller and broader than the burliest of humans and encased in distinctive suits of power armour. So, with the value and what’s in this, it’s hard to pass up. Overall, this is a pretty solid box and worth it for most new or seasoned DE players. This is definitely one of the most useful and desirable Combat Patrols they’ve come out with up to this point. Adeptus Mechanicus Combat Patrol This is something exciting, and it might be able to get a lot of new players into the game or just let you play a new faction if all you have is a single Combat Patrol. Latest Updates & New Rules Articles For Warhammer 40k 10th Edition It has taken many long years – and countless sacrifices – but finally Ahriman, once the Chief Librarian of the Thousand Sons and now a sorcerer in exile, is ready to attempt the most audacious and daring feat of his long life. His quest for knowledge and power has all been for one purpose, and he would now see that purpose fulfilled. His goal? Nothing less than undoing his greatest failure and reversing the Rubric that damned his Legion… Unfortunately, The value of the Necrons combat patrol is really just based on less than half the contents of the Indomitus Starter Set, with a Doomstalker added in.In addition to your mission’s shared primary objective, every Combat Patrol can also choose between a pair of secondary objectives that let you define how you play. Wrath of the Emperor has you send your juggernaut Captain right into the fray, spraying guts and ichor with storm bolter and power sword, scoring 2VP for each phase in which he kills any models. It’s clear that Combat Patrol was deliberately written with intent to drastically streamline the process of preparing for and playing a game. By distilling down the process of building your list, choosing your mission, and playing the game to about as few rules as are possible to have while still remaining recognizable as 10th-edition 40k, they’ve managed to deliver an experience that is not only significantly more approachable for new players from a rules perspective, but also just a lot faster to set up and play once you get to the table. Personally, I would have rather GW swapped out the Infernus Marines for the Sternguard and just made this a “First Company” box or something. Now that would have been an interesting Combat Patrol! At the end of the day, Combat Patrol isn’t going to replace Incursion or Strike Force games for me. If given the option and provided with adequate time, I’d honestly probably prefer to play the larger game using all of my favorite units rather than being limited to a fixed selection of units for every game. But I don’t always have the time to play a full 2000-point game of 40k, and it’s not unusual for me to find myself wishing for a way to squeeze in a game when I don’t necessarily want to spend the next 2-3 hours standing around the table. It makes sense the datasheets are adjusted for a much smaller game size, but it could be fun to play with your new minis. New Datasheets

Every faction’s army rules will remain largely the same – Tyranids retain Shadow in the Warp and Synapse, for example – but each Combat Patrol features Enhancements unique to this game mode to let you tweak your WARLORD and try out new strategies. The Thousand Sons one is pretty similar to the Hexfire box, so if you grabbed that one this might still have some value for you. It is a little strange just because it has so many Tzaangors and it’s basically the same as the Hexfire box but with 10 more Tzaangors added in.It looks pretty similar to the Leagues of Votann army box with two main changes. First, they took out the second squad of warriors and the other character. Replacing that is 5 Berserks (including the mole cannon option). Doom has come upon the Thousand Sons. Born from the Rubric, a curse of fire and dust stalks them across time and space. The spirits of the Rubricae are vanishing from the prisons of their armour in the fourth novel in John French’s Ahriman series.

Also remember that you can use the Space Marine codex stratagem Unyielding in the Face of the Foe which, for 1 cp allows them to add +1 to their armour saves against weapons with damage 1. SANGUINARY ANCIENT A Sanguinary Ancient with Sanguinary Guard It looks like each character will only get two options for enhancements, but this should make building your list as simple as possible. New Missions In addition to your mission’s shared primary objective, every Combat Patrol can also choose between a pair of secondary objectives that let you define how you play. Wrath of the Emperor has you send your juggernaut Captain right into the fray, spraying guts and ichor with storm bolter and power sword, scoring 2VP for each phase in which he kills any models. I hope you enjoyed this, please let me know in the comments below how you would build a 1,000 point list from the Combat Patrol Box and why not also let me know what you think to my list. There may well be aspects of the codex or units that I have not included that you think should be, so why not let us know in the comments below.

New Missions

Over at Warhammer TV, the second explosive episode of Pariah Nexus stomps into view with glowing red eyes and fetching green armour. Citadel Colour Masterclass continues their series of Pariah Nexus-themed tutorials with an invaluable guide to painting freehand flame effects, and Loremasters peers into the mysterious ways of the Necron Deathmarks. Why Deathmarks, you ask? Oh, no reason… The Deathwatch and Grey Knights Combat Patrol boxes are the clear loser on pricing and value. That’s because if you don’t need the characters, you basically get no real value. Unfortunately, The value in this combat patrol is really just based on a little less than half the contents of the Leviathan Starter Set, minus the Screamer Killer and the Neurotyrant. Overall, unless you need these models because you missed out on that box release, it’s not worth buying this box as the value is far lower than the cost of this box on the secondary market. The best place for a gigantic walking death machine is right in the middle of the enemy, and the Brutalis Dreadnought is equipped to take full advantage of the sheer everything-shredding power of its mighty fists and talons. Gone are the heavy guns of the Redemptor or the missiles of the Ballistus – this dreadnought is squarely in the business of tearing things apart in close combat, and business is booming .
