The actual X10 doesn’t seem to be sold in North America, just the Gerber branded Freescape 17.5. These axes are identical ( again Gerber is owned by Fiskars). For splitting small logs and firewood, any of the Fiskars splitting axes will do the job. For bigger logs and actual tree trunk sections, you will want either the X25 or the X27 extra large and XXL splitting axes which allow you to use both hands to get a full overhead swing. These axes are amazing for large pieces of wood or for felling large trees, as they offer the most power. Which Fiskars Axe is Best for Chopping Wood? The X7 is probably the better for basic car camping – where your wood comes pre-cut and you might just need to pop a few pieces apart for kindling. The X10 is more of a forest axe and chopper that can also be a kindling maker. The unique blade geometry will cut deep into green or dry wood before splitting clean through with one swing and uses the extra weight to gain momentum. The sturdy shaft and 3D grip help you get a really good handhold, and the balance is machine perfect. It will easily blow through typical kindling size wood and has more potential to be dangerous to less experienced users. The blade could find your other hand or your shins very easily if used incorrectly.

Fiskars axes are a great choice, but it can be hard to know which to get because they have so many models. And they don’t do a great job helping people tell them apart. The extra weight in the head helps split kindling and even tinder. An easy tap will usually get things started. You won’t need big swings to pop small pieces apart. Why isn’t the X11 my first choice?

Fiskars Norden N10 vs. Fiskars X10

Another consideration of an axe’s size is safety. And this may seem counterintuitive, but in general, the largest axes are the safest, especially for inexperienced users. This is ideal as a camping axe for splitting kindling, carving, limbing smaller branches, and other lightweight tasks. The shorter handle length does make it more challenging to use as I couldn’t get much leverage. All of the power needs to be supplied through your swing. This axe isn’t suited for anything more than cutting kindling. I wouldn’t suggest you could do any significant splitting or felling. We could only conclude that this axe is a perfect replacement for the Fiskars X7 and X10. The whole feels better in hand because of the slight curve. The axe is heavier, but in this case this isn't a disadvantage. You have a little more body as you use the axe.

The Fiskars Norden N10 reminds me of the Fiskars X10. The carbon steel axe head is almost identical. I noticed that the handle of the Norden N10 is not as straight as the old X10. The Norden N10 contains a slight curve which is a real plus for me. Fiskars Norden N10 in useThere are 8 different shapes and sizes in the Fiskars X-Series Axes range, which includes 3 x chopping axes and 5 x splitting axes, as seen in the image above. Each of the different Fiskars axes will do one job better than the next, which is why you should have a good idea of what you will be using it for before you buy one. Crafted with an ultralight and durable FiberComp shaft, the Fiskars X10 Chopping Axe minimizes fatigue while ensuring durability. This axe is virtually unbreakable, standing up to the test of time and heavy-duty use. Vaši sekeru řady X si prosím zaregistrujte během prvních 30 dnů od koupě pro aktivaci prodloužené záruky. Similar to the X11 it’s a little too big and awkward for a dedicated kindling hatchet. You will often find yourself holding mid-handle and the larger blade feels like overkill for smaller pieces. Because of the heavy head, and long handle it’s actually a little clumsy to use one-handed for the smallest pieces of kindling or tinder. I hold it mid-handle for these small jobs, or more often switch to something like a knife for the tinder.
