Description

The best thing about this small hiking chair is it’s super light and folds up super small – it weighs around the same as a small bottle of water and takes up the same amount of space, weighing just 1 lb 03 oz or 490 grams. The frame is made from lightweight aluminum alloy and can handle a max weight capacity of 265 lbs. High-tenacity Robic™ yarn that is lightweight and 25% - 30% stronger a regular yarn in the same denier Big Agnes are a brand designed to inspire you to get outdoors and explore the previously unexplored. Ensure a good night's sleep between adventures with their range of top-quality, durable down sleeping bags , sleeping mats , and lightweight tents .

Some chairs take a while to set up. It is usually the foldable chairs that can be more complicated. The seat pad and ground chair are usually the easiest to set up. So if you are thinking about stopping to rest a lot, the foldable chair might not be your best choice. Comfort The frames should be made with a rust free metal material. Almost all frames on this list are made from aluminum construction, which is durable and sturdy. Fabric This chair is right in the middle of the price range of tent-style chairs we tested. We like the Skyline because we find its combination of comfort, weight, and stability unmatched for such a reasonable price. If you're looking to make an investment in a quality piece of gear that you'll find countless uses for, this is an excellent choice and holds high value. Conclusion Designed to keep you protected from cold, damp or just uncomfortable ground, this best camping seat pad is no-frills insulation superlight foam that folds out to sit on, directly on top of the floor.

Helinox Chair Zero

Our team defines "value" as the meeting point between performance and price. Some products have superior comfort or versatility, but do their costs justify their performance? Others may be very affordable, but does their performance lag? Big Agnes' Skyline UL Chair is an great piece of kit for carrying on day walks, having around camp or even just having in the car for traveling with. For anyone who values comfort over gram counting this is an excellent option for seating. Seat pads are usually the most lightweight option. This is great for people that are hiking the PCT or AT trail. They are usually foam or inflatable and you just place them on the ground and sit on it. People also use this on hiking trails. Weight Compared to the lightest model, this chair is still a decent amount heavier. So those who are ultra-conscious about going ultralight may find the 29 ounces too heavy. We also found that the space-saving hubless pole design takes slightly more time to assemble than the hubbed pole models, but only by around 10 seconds, so we're splitting hairs here. All in all, this is the seat we'd most like to end up in at the end of a long day. But if you're looking to shave off some weight, the 2 ounce Therm-a-Rest Z Seat is the lightest in our lineup. One of the major features of comfort is height. Getting in and out of chairs that are on or close to the ground can be a pain, especially for those with hip and knee issues. Additionally, when the knees are level with the hips, as opposed to higher than them, it's easier to be comfortable for a longer period of time. While the Skyline isn't the tallest chair we tested, it's much higher than competitors in the same price range.

The Nemo Moonlite is probably the most stable, with the Big Agnes Skyline UL and the partially reviewed Helinox Chair One coming in second. The Helinox Chair Zero comes in third, although it needs to be on a relatively flat surface to be stable. The Alite Monarch and REI Flexlite kind of tie for last place. The Monarch actually feels more stable once you are seated in it, and the REI wobbles all the time. DurabilityIf you’re looking for the very lightest hiking chair (if you can call it a chair), then you’ll love the Therm-a-rest Z-seat pad. Big Agnes’ Skyline UL Chair is the most like a traditional basecamp chair. It is one of the heavier models we tested, but with that weight comes more of the comfort and stability one expects to find in a “real” chair.

Otherwise, the REI Flexlite just feels like it’s going to break, with much more play in base and fabric seams that appear to be stressed. That said, it’s still going strong with a fair amount of use. Weight-to-Comfort RatioI love this chair for camping trips. It is the best lightweight camping chair, especially where you want a proper chair to relax in at the end of the day but are tight on space and extra weight. We’ve also put a ton of time on the Helinox Chair One and Chair Zero. Our comparably heavy friend TJ, as mentioned, also put many evenings on his Chair Zero with no issues before he upgraded to the Moonlite—strictly for comfort. That’s pretty great, considering it’s one of the lightest options. Big Agnes built its Mica with a hubless joint design, meaning there’s just aluminum (infinitely recyclable) and no plastic in the structure. It also uses high-tenacity yarn for increased durability while keeping weight low. And this chair doesn’t use any EVA foam, which can release harmful VOCs into the environment.
