The Protector (Turkish: Hakan: Muhafız) is a Turkish drama fantasy series starring Çağatay Ulusoy. [1] [2] The show was created by Binnur Karaevli, and the first season was directed by Umut Aral, Gönenç Uyanık, and Can Evrenol. [3] The story is adapted from Turkish novelist Nilüfer İpek Gökdel's mystery novel Karakalem ve Bir Delikanlının Tuhaf Hikayesi (A Strange Story of Charcoal and a Young Man), which was published in 2016. [4] The first season consists of ten episodes and became available for streaming on Netflix on 14 December 2018. [5] The second season consists of eight episodes and became available on 26 April 2019. On 10 June 2019, the series was renewed for seasons 3 and 4. [6] The fourth and last season was released on 9 July 2020. [7] Synopsis [ edit ] CJ Sansom has his 16th century heavyweight series featuring the wonderful Matthew Shardlake and Taylor has constructed an evocative, atmospheric and realistic world ecosystem for his 17th century series.

A novel filled with intrigue, duplicity, scandal and betrayal, whose author now vies with another master of the genre, C. J. Sansom’ Spectator Andrew Taylor's latest addition to his 17th century series featuring James Marwood and the daughter of the regicide, Cat Lovett, captures the dangerous and turbulent times under the restored King. Whilst at the beginning the King proved to be popular, replacing the last protector, son of Oliver Cromwell, Richard, this is no longer the case, there is now a ground swell of antipathy and hostile feelings towards the King. There is unhappiness at his extravagance, the licentiousness and immorality of the court, there is a growing nostalgia of the past golden age of the Protectorate, and many who would welcome its return. There are those amongst the King's circles who are willing to play with fire, ostensibly claiming allegiance and loyalty, but planning and engaging in treacherous activities. Former air force combat rescue officer Special Agent Clayton White now works for the Secret Service performing routine escort missions for politicians. These missions may not be quite as exciting as his time in the military, but Clayton’s okay with that. It gives him more time to see his girlfriend, Veronica Hammond―an archaeologist who also happens to be the vice president elect’s daughter. This is my honest review. Opinions are mine alone and are not biased in any way. Publication was November 1, 2021. This review was originally posted at Mystery and Suspense Magazine.

After being with Air Rescue, Special Agent Clayton White now works for the Secret Service on the protection detail of the Vice President Elect's daughter, Veronica Hammond. Veronica is a world renowned archaeologist who has perfected an aerial app called Drain that could foil a plot headed, in part, by her father. Clayton and Veronica are in love, and that isn't the only thing keeping the two of them apart. When an attempt on her life is foiled, Veronica and Clay are thrown into the middle of international espionage and a complicated cover-up. We already know many of the characters involved, and are introduced to plenty of new ones - some on the side of the King, and others definitely not so! The novel (like its predecessors) blends fact and fiction - here, it's interesting to hear about Oliver Cromwell's descendants and what became of them.. There is nothing to dislike in this story as it is well thought out period novel giving a good balance of the violence, lewdness and general stink of the times. Some violence and some sex but none that I felt was out of context of the story. While this is a first rate historical novel it is also in the genre of crime fiction - a brilliant historical thriller, filled with a cast ranging from Charles II to duplicitous members of the aristocracy, to apprentices and whores, all drawn together by the protagonists, James Marwood and Cat Hakesby who return to increase our knowledge of this turbulent period in our history. The whore, Chloris, is portrayed with depth and sympathy, but my heart went out to Ferrus, whose harrowing story gradually unfolds exposing the barbaric cruelty of his loathsome Master, the sewage Mazer.

Burçin Terzioğlu as Rüya Erdem / Cavidan, Faysal's wife / love interest (guest: seasons 1 and 4; main: seasons 2–3) Bhaskaran, Gautaman (22 December 2018). "Review: Turkish Netflix drama 'The Protector' a let-down". Arab News. Archived from the original on 1 August 2019 . Retrieved 26 December 2018. Another sweltering month in Charlotte, another boatload of mysteries past and present for overworked, overstressed forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan. The Last Protector is the fourth book in the James Marwood and Cat Lovett series. It is set in the 17th century, just after the Restoration of King Charles II. The main protagonists are James Marwood (a government agent) and Cat Lovett (the much younger wife of an elderly architect). Both characters have fathers who are considered traitors to the Crown, so they have to tread carefully. Although they are good friends, rather than work together to solve crimes (as I expected) they usually become involved in the same mystery from different ends. Need Help?

If you don't want to watch, there is a really good spot near Spryla tower where you can lower the respawn timer of Fay the Last Protector from 5 minutes down to 2 minutes. This is the fourth in Andrew Taylor's "Marwood and Lovett" series. I've read two previous novels in this series (unfortunately missed one but I'll remedy that!) - this is by far my favourite to date. This is a good story from the off as it steps right into the conflict and it is unclear just how the sides will develop. The main characters, Cat and James are intrically woven into the historical events surrounding the London post Great Fire and jostling for position of those at the Royal Court.

Andrew Taylor gives us a lively and fast moving story, filled with atmosphere, intrigue and suspense. The sights, sounds and above all, the stench of London accompany the reader from start to finish. Cat will not be alone in her endeavors and allegiance to the Cromwell family as she is reunited with an “old friend,” who is none other than James Marwood, a traitor’s son turned government agent. Cat and Marwood initially met during the Great Fire 18 months prior and since then have become indebted to each other through successive adventures of peril and intrigue. If you would like to learn more about them, I recommend reading the previous three entries in this stellar series: THE ASHES OF LONDON, THE FIRE COURT and THE KING’S EVIL. You will not be disappointed. One of the central characters dies, which may work out very favourably to two of our much loved personages in this series of books. From the acclaimed author of the Pierce Hunt series comes a thrilling novel featuring a Secret Service agent who takes on a ruthless foe to protect the country he serves and the woman he loves.Part One is set six years ago and is short, but important. This opening is strong and has memorable scenes that immediately pulled this reader into the story. A narrative that is suspenseful and action-filled through-out moves at a blistering pace. The author’s military and federal experiences are reflected in the well-crafted action situations that felt genuine. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ymIU2DnzyJTSQ8LeQJ_TXrZmn_A2tguvHZyqG5OK3O4/edit?usp=sharing Ayça Ayşin Turan as Leyla Sancak, Erdem's assistant [1] and Hakan's first love interest [8] (seasons 1–2) Simon Hakesby, a well-known surveyor and architect, is ailing. Readers of Taylor’s work will be familiar with Simon’s wife, Catherine, who was known as Cat Lovett prior to her marriage. Mistress Elizabeth Cromwell passed away three years ago and at the time of her death was the Lady Protectress of England. It was alleged that some of the last words she uttered before succumbing to her illness was “Ferrus will help him,” a reference made about Richard. We soon learn that Ferrus is a mere mazer-scourer’s laborer whose best friends appear to be animals. Astute readers will recognize that Ferrus will end up playing an important role in the book.
