The Japanese name for "BIG SHOT" is "Power of [[BIG]]," a direct reference to the name of Mettaton NEO's theme, " Power of NEO". He also grows bat wings, one side being green, lilac, and purple, the other being yellow, pink, and magenta, and has teal-green and grey thumbs. If using ACT, getting as many "Snap All" commands as possible is helpful, as it consistently contributes 7% to the Mercy bar. The heart will exist for a long time (if it is not shot, it can exist for 24 seconds), and shots can reduce its existing time and destroy the heart. Spamton NEO's torso armor and wings seem to make up the shape of the Delta Rune, which appears frequently in both Undertale and Deltarune.

Both the Spamton NEO and Mettaton EX battles use their hearts as attacks that can be dealt damage to, as well as smaller versions of themselves and bombs that explode in a Bomberman-style cross pattern as projectiles (the two's bomb attacks even use identical sprites). If the SOUL does not take damage against the standard attack, it is used again the next time and so on until damage is taken, at which point all further uses are the harder variation. The Dealmaker is an armor item obtained after defeating Spamton NEO through ACTing in the normal route. When the heart is destroyed in a normal route, his Mercy meter increases by 3% if he has not received any damage.

When one reaches contact with the box, an array of tiny Spamton heads is launched at the SOUL at a very fast pace. Spamton hangs from vines after being defeated on the normal route, like how Flowey ensnared the main characters at the end of True Pacifist. However, it is not necessarily the most labor-saving strategy, especially if all three characters suffer damage.

Spamton's claim about NEO " never losing" and that it is " famous for its high defense" (and his Bluelight Specil, which greatly boosts it) may be an ironic reference to Mettaton NEO, who is known for having extremely low defense at a point where he's instantly defeated in one hit, regardless of how strong it is. This is triggered immediately when and only when Spamton NEO's HP is below 30% or his MERCY is over 70%.
