The Ocean Digital WR-23D uses the Skytune radio station aggregator to search for Internet radio station streams. WR230S comes with its own power adapter, and you won’t need an iFi iPower to use it and for it to sound good.

Not many internet radios are portable, and despite a slightlybulky size, Mondo Elite offers precisely that. It felt easy to carry and have it on the go, but you need to get the rechargeable lithium-ion battery that is sold separately. Also, consider buying a subscription service like Sirius to pair with your internet radio station. Sirius has devices explicitly made for streaming its channels. I like this functionality because it means I can even connect to streaming sources not found in the Skytune directory like more obscure internet stations, LiveATC and scanner feeds. The Ocean Digital DB220B is a good choice for a cheap DAB radio with Bluetooth. The sound is somewhat tinny, and the design isn’t very special, but this radio offers good value for money.It is bright and delivers a high-resolution image quality with easy access to the menus, settings, and internet radio apps.

The Ocean Digital WR233 internet radio is a good solution if you have DAB signal issues or if you want to be able to listen to thousands of stations from across the globe. In some ways, it’s more fiddly to use than a regular FM/DAB radio, but as an internet radio it performs well. We enjoyed personalizing the sound with the the built-in 5-band equalizer, and if stereo sound isn’t enough, you can even group multiple Mondo Elite Duos together for a multi-room audio experience, which we did not have a second unit to test the feature out. The radio comes with a fully functioning remote control, and you can even set the sleep timer and snooze the alarm using the free smartphone app, which we enjoyed using more. Pandora is one of the most familiar and commonly used music streaming and curation apps, so if you’re looking for a simple and accessible app that works with most internet radio devices, it’s a good choice. WR-230S has an ethernet port, and can receive DLNA and UPnP, basically making a good solution even for multi room music listening, especially if you’re a fan of vintage solutions. There’s Bluetooth 4.2 support too, along with an Aux input, and a headphone output. The headphone output is comedically well driven, but won’t be my main choice with IEMs as there is some hissing with low impedance transducers. Speaking of Bluetooth speaker, yes, the WR-23D is one of those, too! Simply select “Bluetooth” from the home menu and pair it with your favorite device. Couldn’t be easier! FM radio

Verdict

The Ocean Digital WR282CD sounds great on paper, as it offers FM and DAB/DAB+ in addition to internet radio. However, DAB/DAB+ reception on this radio tends to be poor when compared to other DAB radios.
