Ask any guitarist 15 years ago and they would have said to stay away from Squier’s Affinity Series Telecaster models. The guitars were the epitome of poor craftsmanship and possessed a massive account of horror stories. The Cort Earth Mini OP has a surprising spec considering its price, with features you’d normally find on models two or three times the price. For a beginner guitar player, you’ll be hard pushed to find such a high-quality guitar elsewhere.

Rosewood bridge--Many less-expensive guitars have bridges made of cheaper woods, but the genuine rosewood on the Yamaha JR1 and JR2 makes them especially beautiful smaller guitars. The Bridge does help somewhat in creating responsive tone, and having a quality tonewood like rosewood as a bridge makes a significant difference, especially in a laminated soundboard. Despite being a small-scale guitar, the Yamaha JR1 is built with the storied quality and playability of the FG dreadnought series. As a matter of fact, the JR1 sports that same iconic shape, though at a lesser scale. It was designed with kids and everyone who finds full-bodied guitars unwieldy in mind. For hardware, the JR1 has fairly basic components to help keep the consumer’s cost down. However, what is present is more than adequate, featuring:Nothing jumps out as “stage-ready.” Then again, the JR1 is not a guitar you would take to play live or use to record at your home studio. Once you buy a new set of strings, you can take the guitar to a luthier so he can install them. Plus, it would be wise to set a proper height for the strings, as the right-out-the-box setup is not the best. Variety I must add the guitar features a natural finish to round its simple design. Other guitars of the series feature a hand-sprayed ultra-thin gloss finish. Size

Yamaha acoustic guitars are known for adding proprietary features that make them unique. Each series has at least one in-house design choice that runs from the lowest to the highest-priced model- The Yamaha FG JR1 is simply a compact version of the FG800, the most affordable model of the FG acoustic guitar series. Bracing patternYamaha is a manufacturer known for producing guitars that are great values, and this goes for guitars in any price range. While Yamaha's high-end guitars have been praised for their incredible sound and build quality, the company's more affordable models also have a lot to offer, especially when compared to inexpensive guitars from other manufacturers. While Taylor's GS Mini feels like a 'proper' guitar that's shrunk in the wash, the JR2 is about portability and affordability first, with tone and playability a respectable second. It’s important to note that this guitar can’t compete with full-bodied guitar in terms of output. If you want a loud, boomy guitar, go for a standard dreadnought. If, on the other hand, you find the full-scale guitars to be bulky and uncomfortable, and would rather have something scaled-down, the Yamaha JR1 is your thing. The archetype for beginner classical guitars across the globe, Yamaha’s CS40 II is a staple in educational institutions worldwide. It offers excellent playability alongside surprisingly good sound, despite its small price tag. The Yamaha JR1 is a small dreadnought guitar with no cutaway. A dreadnought guitar features a larger body with a louder projection. However, it’s a ¾ dreadnought FG guitar, so it’s both smaller and quieter.

Who knew bass players were so effin’ human?”: Rush legend Geddy Lee to interview Rob Trujillo, Les Claypool and more in upcoming Paramount+ docuseriesJR models are essentially compact versions of our famed FG Series. These junior FG guitars deliver authentic, acoustic sound any time and anywhere - perfect for musicians on the go. It’s just very playable. To me, it’s the best tone that we’ve had from a live show to date”: Sterling By Music Man debuts affordable new signature StingRay for Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz The FG JR1 is not a loud guitar as it’s intended for practice and learning. Still, it can make a great travel guitar for adults, or just a tool to play around for hobby and inspiration. First, I do recommend changing the guitar strings for something better. You can wait until you need to change the strings for the first time, though, about 6 months after you get it.

Keep in mind the FG JR1 comes from Yamaha, a brand that sits at the top of pianos, keyboards, bass guitars, and acoustic guitars in particular.SUMMARY: The FG JR-1 is a great starter guitar for kids ages 7 to 11. It is affordable, has a good sound and is fun to play.
