Description

Score a Victory point whenever an operative under the gaze of the gods incapacitates one or more enemy operatives close to the centre of the killzone or the enemy drop zone. Malign Command The other half of Kill Team: Rogue Trader, the Gellerpox Infected are a group of massive, mutated crewmen infected with the Gellerpox, a particularly nasty plague of nurgle that affects ships traveling through the warp. These hulking behemoths never had much play in Warhammer 40k owing to their difficult keyword situation. That’s all set to change with this new datasheet, however. Use this ploy after one of your operatives incapacitates an enemy operative within 3 inches of it to gain 1 Blood Token to your pool. This is perhaps the “weakest” of the 4 tactical ploys, and likely most useful on Turning Point 1 to help ensure you have 4 Blood Tokens by TP 2 so you can use THE GAZE OF THE GODS. Dark Favour Blooded Icon allows him to transfer a blood token from an incapacitated operative to your token pool if they are within 6 inches once per Turning Point, while Lead With Strength allows him to be treated as if he is under THE GAZE OF THE GODS if he has a blooded token AND more than 6 inches from your drop zone. At first glance, this looks like the obligatory medic specialist. However this is chaos, so you should know better. Instead the Corpseman is a combination buffer and healer who can use his Stimms (1 APL) ability to produce one of three different effects:

Headhunter– Always a good choice, especially if your opponent’s leader is a combat specialist who needs to be forward to be useful. This operative is a great choice if you need something that can survive more than one activation in combat, especially if you’re not also bringing one of your big guys such as the Ogryn. Traitor Thug (1 per Kill Team) The Blooded Kill Team has the Seek and Destroy Archetype, giving it acces to the Tac Ops associated with it in the Core Rulebook. In addition to this, it also has access to the following faction-specific Tac Ops. Worthy Champion The Rogue Trader can also enhance nearby Voidsmen – as well as Imperial Navy Breachers – allowing you to represent your own crew of militant merchants as powerful HQ and Troops choices with the AGENTS OF THE IMPERIUM keyword. If you prefer to field your Legion in power armour, these two upgrade sets are for you. While they were originally designed for Mark II and Mark IV armours, they can also be easily used with Mark V and Mark III kits. Death Guard Mark III TorsosOriginally released as part of the special edition Chaos Knights launch box, this codex is available on its own for the first time – and what a book it is! This is the essential guide for fans of these corrupted engines of war, containing everything you need to run a full army, or to add an allied Dreadblade to another Chaos force.

First seen in the Kill Team: Rogue Trader boxed set, the Elucidian Starstiders are available separately for the first time. The set comprises a Rogue Trader, a Death Cult Executioner, a Rejuvenant Adept, a Lectro-Maester, a Voidmaster, four Voidsmen, and Canid. The Death Cult Executioner is more than a match for any other operative in melee, while you can lay down covering fire with your rotor cannon and Elucia Vhane’s esoteric weaponry. Gellerpox Infected In each Strategy phase, after assigning your Blooded tokens (if any), if four or more friendly operatives in the killzone have Blooded tokens, you can select one of them to be under the gaze of the gods until the end of the Turning Point. Mission actions are specific to the mission you are playing, and will be detailed by that mission’s briefing. Missions can be found here (Open Play mission) and here (Spec Ops Narrative missions). In the B Tier we have factions which haven’t seen top 8 finishes but are close to being able to make it. They may need a little help and have problems in too many matchups to consistently win without a discrepancy in player skill to overcome the faction differences. The Blooded have a single common ability across all their operatives, creatively named BLOODED, that is simultaneously very useful and fits perfectly with their lore as a once loyal and disciplined fighting unit who have turned to pleasing their dark patrons. The first time a friendly operative is incapacitated in each Turning Point while within 6 inches of an enemy operative. Each time the already 8-wound Butcher incapacitates an enemy operative in combat, it also regains D3 lost wounds, making it an excellent token-generating killing machine and the only real must-have among your melee specialists. Traitor Brimstone Grenadier (1 per Kill Team) This lets you give Armour Penetration 1 and Hot (take 3 mortal wounds for each roll of 1 you discard with this weapon) to all las weapons (except for the Sharpshooter’s Long-Las) for one Turning Point. It’s risky, but Armour Penetration 1 is pretty good. Glory Kill

Once in each Strategy phase, when it is your turn to use a Strategic Ploy or pass, you can assign any or all of your Blooded tokens from your pool to friendly BLOODED operatives in the killzone. Each operative can have no more than one Blooded token. Kill Team Moroch contains two full kill teams – the Chaos-tainted Blooded attempting to overthrow the frontier planet of Moroch in the name of the Warmaster, and the Phobos Strike Team sent to stop them. You get 23 plastic miniatures in total, with 10 Space Marines in Phobos Armour, a new upgrade sprue to build them as a wide range of stealth operatives, and a mine, plus 10 Traitor Guardsmen, a Traitor Ogryn, and a Traitor Enforcer. Your basic guys, they come with a lasgun and bayonet, and have no special rules specific to them. As mentioned before you don’t even have to take them, however as we will see one of the main differences between The Blooded and Loyalist Veterans is a greater focus on close range fighting with many Blooded specialists not having ranged options, meaning you may find yourself in a position where you prefer the ranged flexibility of these guys, especially when used in conjunction with the Overcharge Lasguns strategic ploy. Traitor Brimstone GrenadierOn the other side we have the Phobos and Necron teams which undoubtedly need some kind of help. Phobos likely need something to make them more reliable in shooting, while Hierotek Circles desperately need a rework to their resurrection mechanics. Diving Into the Events Perhaps the most situational of the 4 ploys. This allows operatives to retain a single normal hit during combat as a critical hit, provided they’re being supported in that combat. This is more likely to find its usefulness in matches where you outnumber your opponent, but even then The Blooded have access to a significant number of abilities to buff their combat prowess making this ploy feel, lore appropriate, but mechanically redundant. Tactical Ploys Callous Disregard

Incendiary Shells [2 EP] – In effect limited to being taken once as it can only be taken by your Trench Sweeper. The Trench Sweeper may choose to fire these shells instead of its standard shotgun profile. It does so the NORMAL damage on its weapon is reduced by 1, and gains the 1 inch Blast special rule. An incredibly niche choice, but just more value added to one of the better operatives on your team. And then finally we have the LVO 2023 Championships, an 87-player, 7-round event that took place in Las Vegas on January 28th. In contrast to our last two events, this event featured only Open terrain, so players did not have to build for or worry about Gallowdark play: TheChirurgeon: Swing and a miss here. It’s hard to add something that Death Guard would take, but Mutoid Vermin could have potentially been it if they were Troops or didn’t require Gellerpox Infected. As-is, the big guys are basically slow Spawn and if there’s one thing Death Guard and Chaos Marine armies don’t need, it’s more slow units. This multipart plastic kit allows you to build 10 Traitor Guard, plus a Traitor Enforcer and his Traitor Ogryn. These miniatures can be used as Blooded operatives in games of Kill Team, or fielded with Chaos Space Marines armies in games of Warhammer 40,000. This kit includes a huge variety of weapons, heads, and accessories, allowing you to assemble a truly unique squad of ragged rebels and build Traitor Troopers as specialists for your Kill Team – such as the Sharpshooter, Brimstone Grenadier, Trench Sweeper, and more. Teamwork makes the dream work though, and with a little TLC from fellow operatives we can take the carnage much further.

Strategic Assets

Guardsmen provide a more disciplined and durable alternative to Cultist Mobs, with up to three special weapons adding real ranged punch. They retain the CULTISTS keyword too, giving them great synergy with existing Chaos Space Marine units – imagine your Alpha Legion Cult Leader’s bonuses applied to a squad toting a plasma gun, a meltagun, and a sniper rifle! Frag and Krak Grenades [2 and 3 EP] – Unchanged from those employed by all the other Kill Teams. Bring frag if facing hordes, bring Krak if facing elites, pretty standard. The Traitor Guardsmen option gives you 10 models at a cost of 60 points, with all but the Sergeant’s weapon options being free upgrades. These are WS/BS 4+, S/T 3 models with a 5+ save, marking them as slightly more durable than standard Cultists. They come with lasguns, but up to three models can replace theirs with a special weapon, though you can’t double up on these. Most of the time you’re going to drop a meltagun and a plasma gun in the squad, plus your preference of flamer/grenade launcher/sniper rifle on the third guardsman. You can also give one a Vox-Caster for free, in which case they count as being in range of the Enforcer if they’re within 24”, though again this isn’t super important. You can upgrade the Traitor Sergeant to have a plasma pistol and a power sword at a cost of +5 points for either option, neither of which you’re likely to take. Once soldiers of the Astra Militarum, these brutal killers have rebelled against the Imperium, heeding the promises of power offered by the Chaos Gods. The deadliest veterans of the Traitor Guard are known as the Blooded, and put their training and equipment to terrible use, fighting against those who were once their allies. Often pressed into service in the armies of the Chaos Space Marines, the Blooded are all too eager to claim dark glory on far-flung killzones or warp-marked battlefields.
