La información que nos aporta este libro va de lo general a lo particular. Al tratarse de un atlas visual su punto fuerte es, y no podía ser de otra manera, el impresionante trabajo de ilustración de Chris Wormell. Al final del libro nos dicen que el ilustrador jamás ha recibido formación artística, cosa que resulta casi imposible de creer teniendo este libro en la mano. Los datos que nos aportan están recientemente actualizados, lo que significa que las ilustraciones presentan el aspecto más fidedigno posible sobre estas criaturas. En lo personal, me apasiona la existencia de los dinosaurios con plumas y he gozado de lo lindo embobada frente a ilustraciones como, por ejemplo, esta:

Every dinosaur ever seen, on film, TV, in books or exhibitions, has, at least in part, been a work of the imagination. Since the first dinosaurs were identified, there has been a desire to put flesh on the bones and a glint in the eye of these amazing animals. I was amazed at the variety of dinosaurs and the versatility of the critters that has been documented by the fossil remains. Dinosaurs were also a spectacular failure. They were totally and almost suddenly wiped out from the earth about 65 million years ago, towards the end of the Mesozoic era. A number of reasons like change of vegetation, advent of small mammals etc. were given as causes for their extinction. The most plausible reason, appears to be that of cosmic impact as evidenced by a thin sediment layer with enrichment of Iridium of the end of the Cretoceous.
