Todd Strasser is an American author of more than 130 novels for adults, young-adults, and middle graders. DNF'd by 50%] I appreciate the trigger warnings the author placed early on, especially since the story starts with a traumatic event. From what I could force myself to read, it has the bodyguard trope, some mafia vibes, insta!love, and dark romance tones. Adapted exclusively for the stage, Wish You Were Dead is the latest thrilling instalment of the Grace Series – the most successful modern-day crime stage franchise, since Agatha Christie. I don't want to give too much away so I'll just say this is a wonderful creepy thriller filled with suspense and nail biting moments. A fun who-dun-it! The second act focuses entirely on how Roy and Cleo will miraculously escape this scenario and live to fight another day (probably in the next

The chapters are short which helps to move the story along at super speed. The point of views change from the anonymous blogger, to Madison and then best of all, we get to hear what the kidnapper/killer is saying to his or her captives (we don't know who the killer is until the end). Am meisten wird aus der Sicht von Madison Archer geschrieben. Ab und an wurden dann noch ihre Freunde kurz beschrieben, was sie taten. I've been eagerly waiting for this moment. Me reading this after all the teasers miss girl Jaclin have been posting and being selected to be one of the ARC readers is really an honor ♡ from the way rowan treat Jane OBSESSED i don’t think i would be able to get over him but also the plot twist in this book 1000% would have never seen it coming like when we got a hint that it would have been ****** i was like are you sure i think it is the father but turns out they were both guilty in different ways i am absolutely disgusted with those two people also it got me a bit annoyed when he called Thalia messy idk way it not like he is exactly wrong but i don’t know

The one thing that didn’t really make sense to me was Madison’s cyberstalker. It is revealed at the end who it is but I don’t get why it had to be part of the book. It didn’t really add anything to the story and it wasn’t really clear why the person was stalking her. It just confused me a little. It wasn’t needed and there was already enough going on in the book without that. I was glad after all that this was a standalone, because I could wait a minute longer to find the answers to all the mysteries. I really enjoyed the blog posts of Str-S-d, and the different PoVs, it just gave you an insight on everyone's mind. Also that ending was like a good old horror movie. That was a bittersweet story, focused mainly on the fmc's nightmares of the past and the gradual retention of her strength. Rowan's and Jane's relationship had so many turns and a hefty amount of banter, but in the end, it acted as their salvation.

The Thrillogy by Todd Strasser is a trilogy of standalones, which means you can read whichever story seems to pique your interest, even if it's not the first one. But I highly recommend you read all three of them because these books are amazeballs. When James’ publisher, Pan Macmillan, came to him to ask him to create a new detective, James says he wanted to make Roy Grace a very separate kind of officer compared to other fictional investigators. He goes on to explain that much of his time was spent trying to determine what it is that detectives really do, and he discovered that their biggest job is to solve puzzles. How intriguing would it be to have a character that has a personal puzzle their own life? Who is Peter James? Above all though, it felt like it was written by an author who had nothing to lose. Which, dare I say it, is probably the case. Certainly the book isn't bad enough to put any of Peter James' fans off reading the next full-length Roy Grace novel, if it gets him any new fans, well, that's a bonus and if it gets more adults into reading, this deserves nothing but praise. However, I'm afraid that my final thoughts were as follows: Overall, Wish You Were Dead is one of those books I recommend reading when you aren’t home alone. It creeped me out but it was definitely in a good way. If you haven’t read any of Todd Strasser’s books this is a good one to start with. =]
