As two of the most popular on the market, the Earasers vs Eargasm debate is highly contested. For me, the Earasers just edged over for its slightly more natural sound attenuation. In fact, your ears can probably handle 85 dB for about eight continuous hours before it becomes harmful. This allows me to hear all the frequencies clearly to help me to perform better than I would with standard foam earplugs. I’d comfortably say that these are the best earplugs for drummers on a budget that help to preserve the clarity of music. Also included are three interchangeable filters to use inside the earplugs. You have the choice of medium, high or maximum noise filters. The maximum filter offers a substantial 26dB noise reduction! The filters evenly attenuate the frequencies to offer a true-to-life audio experience whilst offering significant hearing protection. My last recommendation is to try custom musician earplugs. They will offer the best sound quality and significantly reduced occlusion. They fit more consistently every time you wear them as they’re made for you. The sound bore is angled based on your anatomy, so sound is directed towards your eardrum. They are made to sit deeper in your ear, past what’s called the second bend, to significantly reduce occlusion.

I know that is a long-winded answer Danilo but I hope it helps. If you have any other questions do not hesitate to reach out to us! Thanks for taking care of your ears. Earasers’ standard NRR (Noise Reduction Rating) is -5dB (-19dB peak), and though Earasers reduce many of the frequencies that would damage your hearing, I have seen some users report it not being enough to feel ‘safe’ with, compared to something like the Etymotic ER20XS mentioned above, which have a rating of -20dB. ER20XS use a tuned resonator and acoustic resistor to replicate the natural response of the ear canal. This unique construction, combined with Etymotic’s proprietary sound path, reduces sound levels evenly across the frequency range without changing the sound quality. Result: Music and speech remain clear, but quieter and safer. The off-the-shelf options available now tend to mimic the shape of the ear canals with a tight fit using a flanged design and are made from silicone. The Soft silicone won’t shrink or change size & it is malleable to your ear, making them work almost as well as the pricey custom option! The affordability & quality means the best earplugs for concerts are available to all of us, it may take trying a couple of different pairs to find your fit. The days of sacrificing your hearing are over tho! The ER20 XS have a low profile making them very discreet when you wear them. The average attenuation of these earplugs is 13 decibels but it can go up to 20 decibels depending on the situation. Now let’s talk sound quality – I’m impressed but also feel it’s an unfair advantage. I am testing these in my acoustically sound music studio through some excellent monitor speakers so I decided not to compare them to any of the other earplugs in this article for the sake of candor.

Earplugs, and the resulting occlusion, can be very striking as it alters our ear canal resonance and skews the balance between airborne sounds (ex. music) and internal resonances (ex. voice). Here are a few recommendations: As a musician, I put clarity of sound as first priority and the Etymotic, with their clear and live sound (still V shaped), are far away from the Alpine which has middle range sort of muffled and drop in the high frequencies. The gold strong filter from Alpine is stronger than the Etymotic ER-20 one, but due to some peaks in medium high frequencies I found them less comfortable in the same sound pressure. The average range of sound reduction for earplugs is between 15-30dB’s. Fit; are they snug, like, soooooooo snug?
