I Wrote This for You and Only You is the second book in the I Wrote This For You series and I must admit, I am deeply in love with Thomas' love now. Since I have already read the first book, I sort of knew what I was getting myself into. At least this time, Thomas' writing did not come as a surprise. I Wrote This For You is a little bit magic and words. It's a simple idea. The book is filled with poems and photo's. The photo's are simple.

Photo's of our daily lives, but the way it is presented, with the poems, makes is something more. A subway is suddenly loneliness, the trees become love, the ocean is kindness and your mind is the creator of the story. This book is YOURS. The words are chosen thoughtfully. The author is speaking directly to you and everyone will see something else in it. Rather than being so abstract, the verses are simple yet precisely adequate to convey the meaning. I will recommend again this one to everyone. In this book, everything is said, and nothing is shown. You are told how to feel, and why you are feeling this way. The words are flat and literal and boring. For example: What I didn't like about this is that some of the entries are misplaced. Like some thoughts about love are in On Dying or On Despair (but it's okay, no worries about it).

The project, which has proven incredibly popular across the world and gone on to become a best selling book, has also afforded him numerous exciting opportunities, including an invitation to dinner with the US Ambassador to South Africa, Donald Gipps as a consultant on digital development within South Africa, and a speaking spot at TEDx Johannesburg. There are more grains of sand in the soles of your shoes than you will be given winters to dream or summers to make those dreams real.Never stop and never settle but settle down for the one who makes you want to be better. And settle down." pg 35 His work has won numerous local and international awards and can be found in Communication Arts, Design Indaba Magazine, Ad Vantage Magazine, bestadsontv.com, Contagious Magazine, Archive, The University of Pretoria’s Permanent Design Collection, X-ings: Shaping Culture Through Design Exhibition, The United Nations Gallery of Sustainable Communication, TEDx, Heso Magazine (Japan) and http://www.inpursuitofelegance.com Just like the previous book, this one also revolved around the theme of love, which is pretty clear from the title anyway. The poems were once again hauntingly beautiful, and even though I have read the previous book, I still wasn't ready for the beauty of these books. I noticed, however, that many of the ideas were a lot similar to the ones in I Wrote This For You. The way the content was presented was also in a similar way, so although I loved the pictures attached, I didn't find the idea of paragraphs that appealing. The bad news is, people are crueler meaner and more evil than you’ve ever imagined. The good news is, people are kinder, gentler and more loving than you’ve ever dreamed.” I need you to understand something. I wrote this for you. I wrote this for you and only you. Everyone else who reads it, doesn’t get it. They may think they get it, but they don’t. This is the sign you’ve been looking for. You were meant to read these words.”

I bought the earlier version of this book when I saw it in a bookstore while visiting my mother in Florida. I was mesmerized by the combination of poetry and photography, both of which are compelling in their own ways. Together, they add more nuance to one another. I Wrote This for You and Only You is a book of poetry by Iain S. Thomas paired with photography by Jon Ellis. Thomas’s short prose poetry covers topics like the self, love, suicide (or rather, not doing it), and heartbreak..

I guess some of them are made for me. Or maybe not. I get emotionally tangled with the words at times and I can't help but write my responses like there is some kind discourse or argument going on. This book reminds me of Lang Leav, whose work I do not enjoy. It took me a year to finish this book, which is a pity because I remember being really excited for it at first.

I would have liked this much more during my teenage emo phase. Nowadays, it seems cliche and extremely emotionally manipulative. And emotionally manipulative books are those that leave me feeling most emotionless of all. It's slightly better written, but I would recommend this for fans of the modern tumblr quote-style poetry - think Lang Leav, Rupi Kaur and/or Amanda Lovelace. This book is a collection of prose and poetry written out of intense heartaches, depressed judgments, schizophrenic thinking and Fly High drugs. At first, I adore how the author contemplates about human emotions - how they revolve around every core of our atoms, how they trigger earthly and heavenly impulses and the plenty little things that they offer but then, its exaggeration and sugarcoating has flee to Pluto that I no longer know how to fathom them. Some stuff were cliché - lyrics from a song, a segment from a quote, a phrase from a television advertisement. That the difference between pain and love is time. That love is only as real as you want it to be. That if you feel good, you look good but it doesn’t always work the other way around.

Iain S. Thomas does it again. This edition of I Wrote This For you was even more emotional and even more raw filled with stunning artwork and incredible words. In 2009, for his work as the author of the art/photography project “I Wrote This For You”, he was voted one of the top 5 finalists in the world in the “Best Blogger To Follow” category on mashable.com under his online pseudonym, pleasefindthis. As a creative director, he’s a champion for innovative design and communication for his clients which have included Nike, Levi’s, Johnny Walker, The Design Indaba, MTN, apple and many more, from Los Angeles, to Amsterdam, to Johannesburg, to Cape Town. His work has spanned everything from monuments to biodegradable posters.
