So we wanted to make sure that this product met the expectations of our visitors, but also truly and properly reflected the occasion."

King Charles III's coronation is fast approaching, as the UK gets ready to crown the first new monarch in 70 years on Saturday 6 May 2023. What better way to mark this historic occasion than with a limited-edition piece of royal memorabilia you can treasure for years to come? In their still unfinished state, the colours on the decorated items – featuring paint containing liquid gold – are mismatched. The official range of chinaware to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III has been made in Stoke-on-Trent. The Royal Collection Trust range goes on sale today (Friday, April 14) and includes a coffee mug, pillbox, tankard, dessert plate and cup and saucer. The Royal Collection Trust has issued a range of china as well as Christmas decorations with just three months to go until the 70th anniversary of The Queen’s reign. On the factory floor in Stoke, high quality white clay supplied from Devon and Cornwall is machine-mixed with water and other ingredients to form liquid clay, known as slip, which is sieved for impurities and then piped and hand-poured into moulds by staff using pressurised hoses. For delivery purposes, the European Union region includes the following 27 EU member states and Monaco: If you're after a coronation-based theme for a loved one, this ceramic mug can be personalised with the name of the recipient, which will be displayed around the rim of the mug. The mug also features classic London iconography, King Charles's cypher and the words 'To Commemorate the Coronation of King Charles III'. All the profits from the sale of this official range of commemorative items goes to the Royal Collection Trust. The Trust is a registered charity, set up to oversee the conservation of the Royal Collection and make it accessible through exhibitions and educational projects. It receives no public funding. The china is made from clay sourced in Devon and Cornwall, which is then cast, fired and decorated by hand in Stoke-on-Trent, where china marking royal occasions has been made for generations.

Not only will a King Charles III coronation mug make a special reminder of the day, it's practical too. While a special coronation-themed candle will eventually burn down or a royal-themed cushion may retire to the attic, a commemorative mug will have a place in your kitchen cupboard for years to come. The exact manufacturing location is kept under wraps, but workers there, some of whom started in the pottery-making industry as teenagers and are now in their 60s, spoke of their delight at being involved in marking such a historic event.

Further commemorative items and limited edition pieces will be released in the coming months. All profits from sales of the official chinaware range and commemorative items go to the Royal Collection Trust, for the care and conservation of the collection, and access to the collection through exhibitions, publications, loans and educational programmes. The china is then hand-finished with 22-carat gold as part of the process, which involves more than 50 artisans across 12 factories. So, whether you're on the hunt for a coronation mug for yourself or as a gift for a royal-loving friend, we've got you covered. We've searched high and low to bring you this edit of the best, featuring 1/2 pint mug, dainty tea cups and matching saucers, and more. Just add a plate of scones, jam and cream, and you've got yourself a dreamy bank holiday set-up. The Royal Collection Trust has unveiled its range of official chinaware marking the coronation of King Charles III. The drying clay pieces must then be removed at precisely the right moment, in a process requiring careful timing, from the plaster of Paris moulds.
