Description

There are many ads and other posters for the Electric Circus on the web but few are in high quality unfortunately. The main logo typeface (and possibly a lot of the ad layouts) was designed by design company Chermayeff-Geismar, a world-reknown practice who are still in business today. The Electric Circus was a regular feature on ‘So It Goes’, Tony Wilson’s half hour television programme, showing live performances from a number of punk bands, giving them much needed exposure and helped to recruit new converts on a weekly basis. The trio all agreed that it was the perfect designation, as it would keep the spirit of 99 alive and well in the shiny new 299 environment. As the '90s rolled on, even the O.G hip-hop started to get phased out. While Goldberg started to direct music videos for Maestro, The Dream Warriors and others, he passed EC producing duties onto Sharon Kavanaugh.

The lads from Electric Circus are amazing. I dealt with Jason throughout my booking and he was so nice to deal with. He made it easy which is great at a hectic time. Then our day finally arrived and to say that the lads were excellent is an understatement. They are by far the best band I have ever heard. They could sing and play the alphabet and it would sound amazing. They play all genres of music so everyone is entertained and the floor is full all night. They are gifted musicians. I also had them as our D.J. once they had finished their live set and did a spectacular job of that too. They made sure to include everything that I had asked for and my guests are still talking about them today. I would highly recommend them to anyone who has yet to choose a band for their big day. It was our pleasure to have Electric Circus be a part of our wedding. Thank you guys x More hoovering up the recent crop of promos and new finds in the second Bits & Bobs show of 2007 (not too great with the titles there but I was juggling 20 month old twins at the time). Moses wanted it to run for 90 minutes on Saturday afternoon, live-to-air. He brought onboard Monika Deol, a spirited young entertainment reporter at Citytv who happened to also be a DJ and club kid who really understood the culture. An inauspicious opening evening’s entertainment was provided by Supercharge,a band from Liverpool, who were popular enough to draw a good sized crowd. They were signed to Virgin and had achieved a number 3 hit in Australia in 1976,plus they also opened for Queen at Hyde Park earlier in the year. All South London vinyl heads should head to Deptford this weekend for the opening of Upside Down Records.

A: There is no official statement as to why Oprah did not choose The Electric Circus for her book club. However, it is important to note that Oprah does not choose every book that is released and she may have had other books that she was interested in promoting at the time. In its early days, Citytv had hosted the very popular disco dance show Boogie, and Znaimer was keen to revisit the dynamism such a show would generate. Electric Circus is a vintage circus themed party band with a fantastic stage show that includes custom vintage-esque red velour stage drapes with striped valence, a light show with LED circus hoops, and dance choreography. Viewers in Detroit were able to receive the broadcast, and in addition to helping foster more interest in the Motown sound, the imagery aided in challenging Michigan's staid racist culture. The Pistols themselves played at the Circus twice in December 1976,on the 9th and 19th,as part of the disrupted and shambolic Anarchy tour,(the 19th was a hastily rearranged gig after the original venue in Guildford banned them),cementing the close relationship between Manchester bands and their London brothers.

Design work has been relentless since September (I’m not complaining) with multiple zoetropes in the works, an album for The Real Tuesday Weld under a new alias, work for De:tuned that should be announced in December and work for Castles In Space. This is alongside writing assignments for the second Dust & Grooves book, my weekly Mixcloud Select uploads and research for another book. The show explored club culture beyond just the music - fashion, health and lifestyle were covered - and as Deol put it the studio looked like the United Nations under one groove. The venue was originally the Palace Cinema, then the Top Hat Club run by Bernard Manning and then a bingo hall. It became a heavy metal club in the 1970s until punk arrived there in 1976, [1] and Richard Boon [2] and Alan Robinson [3] started promoting nights there. However the building was in a poor state of repair and was closed in late 1977 due to objections from the fire service and Manchester City Council. [4] It re-opened briefly again in 1978 [5] as the New Electric Circus but by 1980 the building was demolished and replaced by housing. [6] The book touches on several themes that are central to modern life, including the struggle to find one's place in the world and the idea of illusion and spectacle. The protagonist's sense of restlessness and dissatisfaction is a common experience for many young adults, making the book highly relatable. The circus serves as a metaphor for the fleeting nature of happiness and the often-unreliable nature of our perceptions, adding depth and complexity to the book's themes. We had Electric Circus play at our wedding and from the first dance to the last they created a fantastic atmosphere and had the dance floor full all night. I have so many people commented on how good the band were. I would highly recommend Jason and Electric Circus. Thanks again guys.

Hey There! A little disclaimer:

As nothing came of Frankie mk1 I’d hazard a guess that Ambrose sent the recordings (or some of his own maybe?) to John and used the name? Holly released at least one solo single between Frankie mk1 and 2 so there was a gap, it’s a pity I didn’t see if there was a date on the letter. Looking up Reynolds on Wikipedia shows that he was pretty active on the music scene around Liverpool, later teaming up with ex-Big In Japan vocalist Jayne Casey to form Pink Industry and starting Zulu Records together, but one paragraph stood out:
