Our Leakproof Lace & Mesh Hipster, Bikini, High Waist Brief, French Cut, and Leakproof Seamless Brief, Bikini, and High Waist styles, as well as our Cotton Bikini and Brief and Comfort Bikini are available in regular absorbency that is made for your regular flow days and hold 2–3 regular tampons (2–3 tsp or 10–15 ml) worth of flow. Personally most months I can put the cup in after a morning shower and I don't need to change it until the evening. On day 1 sometimes it feels "heavy" there so I'll change it after about 8 hours. A colleague has exceptionally heavy periods and day 1 and 2 they'll be changing every couple of hours on day 1 but this is far less than they had before they used a cup. Saalt's original menstrual cup was designed to be the easiest to use and most comfortable cup on the market. The medical-grade silicone has a velvety soft finish and is on the slightly firm side of average and is engineered with a bulb shape that retains its form very well. This makes it an excellent cup for first-time cup users because the slightly firmer structure allows it to pop open easily when inserted and creates a really good seal, so it's leak free and sits comfortably in place. No. You can go to the toilet as normal when wearing a menstrual cup. Some people prefer to remove their menstrual cup for a bowel movement but the choice is yours. Does a period cup smell?

Hand sketched drawings turned into fourteen design iterations, and in February of 2018, Saalt launched with the Saalt Cup and the vision of making cleaner, more sustainable period care accessible to everyone. Keeps you comfortable. With options ranging from cozy to silky, the body fabric keeps you feeling fresh and ready to take on the day (or night!). Saalt Menstrual Cups are a healthy and sustainable alternative to pads and tampons that are better for you and better for the planet. Please do not use the following that may degrade the silicone over time, disrupt your natural pH and vaginal flora, or may lead to irritation:I've got an average flow so only need to empty it morning and evening so I'm normally at home. More details are in our separate article "can i go to the toilet while using a menstrual cup." Can my menstrual cup get lost in me? The Saalt menstrual cup is worn internally like a tampon, but collects—rather than absorbs—your period flow. The Saalt menstrual cup stays in place by creating a seal between the cup and your vaginal wall. Once your cup is filled, you simply empty, rinse, and reinsert the cup for another 12 hours of protection. Try gently bearing down like you’re going to pee to relax your pelvic floor and loosen your vaginal muscles. (Never hold your breath while bearing down, but continue breathing)

You shouldn't be able to feel the cup at all once it's in place. If you can feel it, it's not inserted properly or you need to trim/cut off the stem. If it's definitely in place and the stem has been trimmed then it's possible that it's not quite the right cup for you. It will still work but isn't the optimum cup for you. Read our article on "choosing a menstrual cup."We also have a "menstrual cup comparison chart" to help you find the perfect one for you. Do I have to remove the menstrual cup when I go to the toilet? For some, there is a feeling of fullness or slight pressure the first cycle or two until their bodies adjust to the idea of a menstrual disc. After your period, rinse your menstrual disc in cold water first to help avoid discoloration and odor. Then wash thoroughly using our all-natural Saalt Wash or hot water and mild soap. Avoid strong cleaners or anything that may irritate your skin if not completely washed off. Use a soft rag to wipe away any buildup. Then sanitize your disc by placing it in a pot of boiling water for 4–5 minutes (but not more than 7 min). Use tongs or a whisk to make sure the disc doesn’t rest on the bottom of the pot. When boiling your disc is not an option, you may sanitize it by rinsing it with water and then thoroughly wiping your disc (and all its nooks and crannies) with a soft rag and 70% isopropyl alcohol. Allow the alcohol to evaporate and you’re good to go! First, the Saalt Cup + Saalt Wear dynamic duo is our favorite way to period. Why? Because it provides a fully reusable solution to replace both tampons and pads that is better for our bodies and the planet. Our Leakproof Lace Hipster and all thong styles are made for your light flow days and hold 1–2 light tampons (~1 tsp or 3–6 ml) worth of flow. Our Comfort Brief and Boyshort, Leakproof Seamless Brief, Leakproof Mesh Hipster, Leakproof High Waist Brief, and Leakproof French Cut High Waist are available in heavy absorbency that is made for your heavy flow days or free bleeding and hold 3-4 regular tampons (3–4 tsp or 15–20 ml) worth of flow.
