Selina Kyle is present, but Miller infamously overhauled her origin to make Selina a prostitute inspired by batman's vigilante actions. One of the only disappointing aspects of the story is that Selina's role doesn't amount to more in the end. The conclusion is also a bit underwhelming relative to the rest of the book. But neither of these complaints do much to diminish Year One's status as a gripping and highly influential Batman drama.
